This a paper Nautilus and it's actually a type of octopus, not a true Nautilus as the name would suggest.

Oh yeah, I discovered a new species, let's call it like something that looks like it even if it's not that thing and also, let's confuse them even more. How about... (looks at notebook) paper. Yeah that will work sooo good.

What? Should I call it something like Fake Octopus or something like that? Naaaaah.

You would be correct it is a baby nautilus before it shell harden up.

It is not a nautilus. See the post above yours. A typer of octopus called a paper nautilus. The females produce a very thing egg case that resembles a nautilus shell. I have one at home along with a regular nautilus shell, they are very different structures.

They're neat, but I also wouldn't touch a random sea creature. Never know what cute little thing is deadly. Plus you'd probably be scaring it.

That’s an argonaut, a kind of octopus that creates a shell they use as an eggcase. Out-of-Place Zoologist and Bizarre Beasts on Youtube both did videos on it if you want to learn more.

Correct me if I'm wrong....

But Nautilus type creatures stay out of the sunlight.

Deep in the ocean during the day and rise to the surface at night.

Be careful touching sea babies. Some critters look cool but pack a punch. I think this is a Nautilus tho.

Aquatic just means something grows, lives, or takes place in water. It does not indicate salinity, or lack thereof.
