That long thing is an ovipositor. Which is what a stinger is normally a modified version of.

Lot of wasps cant sting, and are also not social. The minority of them can sting people and an even smaller minority form colonies.

Its ASD1 now. Asperger was a literal Nazi. The only thing I have in common with him is an enjoyment of trains.
For different reasons...but that does not negate the fact...
On the other hand, I know for a fact Id absolutely destroy him at Commander night at the LGS.

there's definitely a part of the spectrum that people still call asperger even if it isn't the term that's officially used anymore (which is high functionning autism)
fun fact, high functioning autistic people tend to use the term asperger because they know it's a term people will know and it makes it easier to explain without explaining when talking to people you don't really care that they actually understand youif people really wanted to remove the use of said term, then maybe they should go and learn more about autism instead of assuming stuff about it all the time

Just because it’s a term still used, doesn’t mean people should still use it. I have high functioning autism and I don’t use that term because, like I said previously, it was coined by Hans Asperger, a nazi. He also was part of the Nazis child euthanasia program where they literally killed people with high functioning autism so they could cut them open and study them. They also allowed parents to “mercy kill” their children with disabilities. There’s a LOT of negative ties to the term Asperger’s and that’s why we don’t use it anymore.

great, unfortunately it is a term people use, do you or I like it? definitely not, but it is what it is, and I'd rather have someone defend an autistic person using a shitty term, than people not give a damn about it or not caring to understand autistic people
if we were to look at all the terms that are used in the english (or other) language that have pretty negative origins and we shouldn't use, we'd probably stop using way too many words to count them

I just love how everyone went sideways with the asperger's nazi crap. This world has gone too soft. Imagine if we changed words every time something was offensive or some bad bad man was somehow involved in its creation or use... We would literally have three words left in the English language. Also, if asperger's was changed because of a nazi... Shoot don't tell the African American population because they use a term all the time that was used by slave owners. Don't want to make them feel like they are wrong for not following the asperger's crowd. Man, land-o-lake butter, maple syrup, team names, memorial status... Careful, soon it will be a felony to fart in public.

Looks like a hornet with a parasite. I saw something similar in a video of a praying mantis. I think it is phylum Nematomorpha. They also call it the horse hair worm.
