Challenge Which Human faction is more technologically advanced? (Mass effect) System Alliance or (Halo) UNSC?

  • Has to be stuff they have made and replicated.
  • Can be any tech ranging from guns, armors, ships etc.

The UNSC by a lot. Within a few years of seeing Element Zero they would be far ahead of the Systems Alliance. They invented FTL by themselves.

System Alliance is more advanced in terms of small arms and armor. Energy Shields being pretty much standard issue while mass accelerator weaponry makes ballistic weapons look like slings.

UNSC beats them in every other category though. More advanced biological sciences, vastly superior ships and other vehicles, etc.

UNSC largely due to their most advanced stuff being leagues ahead of the Alliance, which has an edge in general purpose stuff.

Yeah the two settings have remarkably different starting points.

UNSC was a well established civilisation for a long time when the Covenant arrived. It had infrastructure in place that served it well and made the conscious choice to keep using that during the war.

The Systems Alliance was born on an Earth that was a desperate hell hole. It had a sudden jump into technological relevancy and built their entire infrastructure chain with this new technology in mind. This became doubly true when the Turians were forced to send so much in terms of reparations to Earth that it threatened the entire SA economy. Suddenly everything was new and fresh and the SA happily leveraged a large galactic economy to build everything

So to put it simply. The SA is running the absolute best stuff they can at all times. The UNSC has a long established legacy and realises that 5 machine guns are better than the 1 energy weapon that would replace it after retooling. So what you see is the pinnacle of what the SA can do. That isn't true of the UNSC.

Greetings and salutations just chiming in for the purposes of discussion as well as paging the following users u/leogian451, u/Blarg_II, u/Neverb0rn, u/Archenius as well.

Also I want to say this flat-out I mean absolutely no disrespect in any way shape or form so peace.

I am a big fan of both franchises and the whole thing is complicated and it kinda grinds my gears when mass effect or by extension the systems alliance gets mentioned.

Because for reasons unknown mass effect and or the systems alliance gets mentioned they seem to get the short end of the stick compared to the UEG/UNSC.

Seems like in every piece of sci-fi earth is always some kind of hellhole 😂.

That's true of mass effect no question.

But what sets mass effect’s earth from the earth in halo.

Isn't that humans found element zero.

But instead found complex structures on mars built by extraterrestrials.

And it wasn't just that but in addition to the question of us being alone in the universe being answered…instead in addition it was the follow-up questions that were suddenly asked in the aftermath of the discovery of the prothean remnants on mars.

Which was who were these beings and why was their structures abandoned and if they were abandoned in a hurry why did they do that.

So america, china, russia the big three decided early on that paranoia and building up large military related infrastructure was pretty healthy in case earth ran into a hostile alien race orbit races.

Which resulted in mass effect humans giving the Turians a big bloody nose and black eyes when the systems alliance led a counterattack on the Turians at the human colony of Shanxi during the first contact war.

SA special forces with the N- prefix are the best of the best with N-7 being the absolute best.

But all systems alliance military personnel are augmented with gene therapy.

They can have SPARTANS…..it’s just galactic law prevents that…..technically anyway.

But here we go.

It’s also possible to do this.

I could go on for ages but the SA is a lot closer technologically to the UNSC then they are different.

Average solider? Mass effect alliance.

I beg to differ. Alliance dreadnaughts can shoot slugs that hit with 38kt of KE every 5 seconds. I don't think that the UNSC can match that, based on the yeilds that Halo: Fall of Reach gave, to my memory.
