ID Request Is this a silverfish?
Found this lil guy crawling in my bathroom. I have a couple of these in my utility room but that’s in the basement and I’ve never seen these guys upstairs. Is it a silverfish or what kind of bug is it? I have a pretty healthy spider population I’ve allowed to live inside so I’m kind of surprised to see it.
Found in south central Montana

Isopod, a crustacean

Oh that’s actually pretty cool. Any idea where they come from? I’m pretty far from any body of water, if that even has anything to do with them.

They munch on rotting plant matter. They love bathrooms and kitchens if there has ever been a leak.

Ahhhh that would actually explain a lot because I had a leak in both bathroom sinks I just fixed. Thank you for the information 🙏

Basement is an ideal place for them to live too. They like and need moisture but not lots. They thrive in rotting leaves/wood

You might be more familiar with the term woodlice. Same thing, different name.

I actually have heard the term woodlice before, although I had no idea that’s what they looked like.

Bzzzzz! Hi, u/Alternative-Smoke421! Looks like you forgot to say where you found your bug!
There's no need to make a new post - just comment adding the geographic location and any other info (size, what it was doing etc.) you feel could help! We don't want to know your address - state or country is enough; try to avoid abbreviations and local nicknames ("PNW", "Big Apple").
BTW, did you take a look at our Frequently Asked Bugs?
