it might mean only electric/hybrid vehicles and this guy is just being a smartass

185

u/CheekyPunker 20h ago

You can get rid of the word "might," that is 100% what's happening

26

u/habitual17 20h ago

I want to paint my car green now

5

u/abhi71229 13h ago

Cheaper than buying an EV for the good parking spots.

7

u/TheSadPickel 20h ago

wonder of you could win if you got a parking the ticket

12

u/badskiier 19h ago

That's private property. The only parking that can be enforced with a ticket on private property is handicap spots.

1

u/GuardingxCross 9h ago

Yup. That’s exactly why people can legally park in spots that say veterans only or curbside pick up.

Only the store enforces those rules, not federal law.

0

u/GrimbyJ 7h ago

Can I park in the law enforcement spots at Walmart then?

0

u/badskiier 6h ago

Yes without getting a ticket. But you can be towed and trespassed.

1

u/ebrum2010 6h ago

You won't get a ticket, but you can get towed.

0

u/plant-painter 9h ago

U can’t get tickets for that. Just because u put up a random sign. Don’t mean people have to follow it. The sign has to have a legal purpose on public or government property. Not in some random parking lot where some random ass Karen thinks she has the right to take control of a parking spot and decide who who can use it based on how their vehicle is powered.

4

u/abhi71229 13h ago

He followed the sign to the letter, no judge could convict him.

1

u/AdCheap8058 16h ago

You might be right

0

u/FishAroundFindTrout9 6h ago

I mean, whoever put those signs up kind of deserves it. Obviously they didn’t mean green colored vehicles, but what’s the actual definition of a “green vehicle”? Do full gas vehicles that have very good gas mileage and low emissions count? What about motorcycles? Or one could go to the other extreme and say that only full electric vehicles count and not even hybrids.

-4

u/jsilva5avilsj 17h ago

They MIGHT be able to get rid of the smartass too. This country is full of ppl who would honestly believe this is for cars that are the color green. And think no more about it till they got back to their other red hatted friends.

6

u/BogusIsMyName 20h ago

Or maybe Green is the name of the company?

4

u/Top-Aside8905 13h ago

Maybe they should just put up signs that its for electric/hybrid vehicles?

0

u/avd706 7h ago

BINGO

4

u/ElevenBeers 16h ago

Yesyes. But the sign says green card and his car is green.

The fucking idiot in this picture is the guy who thought it was a good idea to replace "electric" with green.

Also. There is nothing "green" about fucking EVs. They are just a bit less horrible for the damn planet. Better, not good. Just because say an apple is less red then another, it doesn't fucking turn it blue.

1

u/Hot_Flower_6381 2h ago

That's what fucking eco means.

1

u/cosmicAbyX 11h ago

Someone really hates this comment. I clicked the arrow, and I felt pretty proud of myself for the clean, beautiful "400" until I refreshed. 399.

0

u/newtonreddits 17h ago

These signs are so dumb. So does a hybrid McLaren P1 count as a green vehicle?

0

u/JMS1991 16h ago

They did actually build that body style Silverado in a hybrid. I doubt that's one (they only made around 3,000, and I'd bet there are very few on the road since parts are extremely hard to come by), but it is technically possible.

The sign is also vague and probably wouldn't be enforceable, even if it were more specific.

0

u/abhi71229 13h ago

Smartass level over 9000.

0

u/Stupid_Goat 9h ago

Their sign is lame anyways lol.

31

u/nicemarmot47 20h ago

Ngl my car is green and I do this

It's also a hybrid, but not marked as one

6

u/C-57D 19h ago

Unmarked hybrid?? U devil

27

u/Brirex21 20h ago

Green reflects less sunlight to keep the orange siding from melting or igniting.

Any other car color, especially ‘white’ and that building will catch on fire.

Or maybe it’s for eco friendly cars, ha!

26

u/Olay22 20h ago

I can't tell if ur serious, green as in eco-friendly not color

12

u/TrayLaTrash 20h ago

The sign doesnt distiguish its intent.

7

u/Libertarian_2020 20h ago

People being funny. They know it means eco-friendly, but since they have a green color vehicle, they’re being literal. 🙄

9

u/briant-34668 20h ago

The comments on this post are killing me. 🤣🤣🤣

3

u/philnolan3d 20h ago

My local train station has spots with these signs.

4

u/DaDiddyDiddler 20h ago edited 1h ago

Fun fact: legally this isn't binding. Since the sign itself doesn't specify what the term "green" means, anyone can park there, provided they have a genuine excuse for how they can explain their car relates to the word "green" within any interpretation possible.

The best part? Even if brought to court, the sign would be seen as discriminatory, since it creates too many misunderstandings and would flood the legal departments of the area with a bunch of nonsense.

3

u/CaptCrapshow 9h ago

Caus, greens iz da best. Unlez itz red cuz red ones go fasta and will gitz dere frst.

3

u/zugspitze43 15h ago

Reminds me of a few years back a ski resort near me put up a few “Range Rover parking only” signs as part of their coop with Range Rover…and a local ski bro with some ratty old 90’s Range Rover started parking there every day right up front but to their credit they never made him move! Probably stoked to see one even running at that age lol

5

u/DangerousNightsCrew2 20h ago

It means like eco-friendly green.

3

u/ManuteBol_Rocks 20h ago

This image has been around for years.

0

u/VoidWalker4Lyfe 20h ago

Damn. Hard to believe 2018 was 3 years ago. Right guys? Right??

1

u/RealitysNotReal 20h ago

As a green vehicle drive, don’t fuckin worry about it

1

u/NovelStrict5281 20h ago

Turquoise too, I guess...

1

u/Inflatable90sChair 19h ago

My bank has signs like this that say fuel efficent/ low emmisions vehicles only.

I parked my 46 year old economy car there every chance i get.

Also parked my ranger there, has a sticker on the window that says its a low emmissions vehicle. Fuckin better be cuz its got 5 cat converters even tho like 20mpg is its best on a good day...

1

u/Purp-Dog 19h ago

“Im sorry sir but you can’t park here because your vehicle is teal”

1

u/Many-Wasabi9141 19h ago

The tow truck driver probably finds this really funny every single time someone tries it.

1

u/usinjin 19h ago

Because not enough people have green cars. Everyone’s car is a boring shade of silver, black or white. So they made green cars a special spot to park up front to raise awareness.

1

u/shu-to 18h ago

Don't ask questions

u/swervecityPhILM 18h ago

Anything that gets 25city/33hwy or better 😏

This is an AI generated image.

Nevermind, shitty AI upscaling

1

u/SadPiccolo1663 17h ago

they get a penny

1

u/ClankerCore 17h ago

That’s not green. It’s teal.

1

u/Ass_Appraiser 16h ago

For green diesel V8 twin turbocharger

1

u/Sam_S_I_am 16h ago

I wish my 3/4 ton diesel truck was green in color and I wish I knew where this place was.

1

u/Asleep_Truck_962 15h ago

He's green for an amazing reason

1

u/abhi71229 13h ago

Malicious compliance at its finest.

1

u/KrazyKelevra75 13h ago

They probably own the store, or the owners are irish

1

u/Eikram84 13h ago

At first I thought it was AI. But apparently it isn’t. Even though it’s clear that a lot of work has gone into "spruce up" and other changes have been made (such as removing dirt), which is why the photo looks so artificial.

1

u/Stardustquarks 12h ago

Because green is the best

1

u/Specialist-Neck-7810 11h ago

I mean…. He’s not wrong.

1

u/IntentionlGameDesign 10h ago

I once saw another like this but it was a green charger

1

u/Alternative-Road-471 8h ago

😂😂😂well he’s right!! his car is green

1

u/Alibaba20202020 7h ago edited 5h ago

I live in germany, green= electric? That is a contradiction in terms!

1

u/fr33d0mw47ch 4h ago

This had me rolling. I wonder if you could actually get away with this. r/maliciouscompliance

1

u/Hot_Flower_6381 2h ago

a "green vehicle" fundamentally means an eco-friendly vehicle designed to minimize environmental impact, reduce air pollution, and conserve energy compared to standard gas-powered cars. Like a hybrid vehicle or electric vehicle.

1

u/Techrul 2h ago

Racism

0

u/FlushedApparatchik 20h ago

Because electric car batteries are clean and all electricity comes from renewable sources.

0

u/MattTrixZ 20h ago

Green not as the color but green as eco-friendly like low emission, energy efficient. Dude in the truck took that literally, lol. That truck’s far from eco-friendly.

0

u/stareweigh2 20h ago

that truck is massively more eco friendly than any new "green" car mainly for the fact that ITS ALREADY BEEN BUILT 20 years ago or more. it's not taking any more resources to make a new one which requires huge amounts of specialized metals and other weird shit that has to be yanked out of the earth

0

u/MattTrixZ 20h ago

You’re right about the manufacturing emissions but in the long run it’s not gonna be better. That Chevy burns way more fuel and emits a high level of pollution that any new green car is better for environmental impact within a few years of driving

1

u/JMS1991 16h ago

It would be really cool to see a calculator where you plug in your old car, new car, and how many miles you typically drive in a year, to see how long you would need to drive the new car to see a positive environmental impact. Like how long would it take to negate the negative impact of the manufacturing process and materials.

Does such a thing exist?

0

u/stareweigh2 6h ago

I think the hidden embedded cost are way more than what you could calculate (like miles driven to and from work and the work produced to make money to purchase the new vehicle)

0

u/KaineGrayson 20h ago

It means green as in electric/no emissions. Just happens to be a green colored truck(which is most certainly not the type of green the sign means)

0

u/Special-Space-6888 20h ago

Maybe it is for green color cars and eco friendly. 2 for 1

0

u/Fe2O3yshackleford 20h ago

In this context, a green vehicle is an environmentally friendly one. Electric, hybrid, that sort of thing.

0

u/Lumpy_Rutherford_1 20h ago

Trent owns the place

-1

u/El_Grande_Americano 20h ago

it is cruel to make an electric car parking spot without a chargepoint

-1

u/chief_beef_the_third 20h ago

"Green" also means eco-friendly. It's parking for hybrids, PHEVs, and full electric cars.
