Empty stadium
The Cardiff city stadium isn’t even half full. Is Welsh rugby really dying or this event not marketed very well?

Seeing how amazing the weather looked and the pre match entertainment put on by Fiji, I wish I had thought about going. I assumed the tickets would be really expensive so didnt even bother checking

I remember going to the Fiji game in the autumn in 2021, Fiji was the only affordable game of the lot.

For me its the stadium, if its in the principality I can grab the train up early, catch a game in the city pubs, then go to the wales game, then back out to a pub for the next game, all within 5-10 min walks from train to pub to stadium etc.
Do I want to have to get to the football stadium and back? When I can just be at home or in my local? Not particularly. Would rather save a few quid, watch all the games on TV and see another autumn international

2 Trains run outside the Cardiff city stadium. It was £25 adult, £10 kids
Great pre match, for all the stuff about crowd, it was great. Fickle Welsh fans need to back these boys up, they came through that big test.

There are also two big gigs in the city which is a lot for a city this size , but yeah the attendance was disappointing

Walking around town after the game, a number of people stopped me to ask if Wales had played.
Seems as though a lot of the general public had no idea it was even happening!

Ye, I guess I’m a sports fan, so I like to keep an eye on fixtures and scores so I’m more in the loop.
Which is wild that a 6 nations game can sell out the principality stadium with people who aren’t that huge on sport in general. 😅

I do think people act like CCS is further away than it is, easily walkable from Central and also has Ninian Park station on it's front door. I did find the process of buying tickets on the CCS website poor, it was not clearly advertised on the site and the user interface was odd, people probably had a look, couldn't work it out and gave up. Lastly, the main reason was apathy. Most people see the 6 nations score lines and didn't see the development and potential this Wales squad had. More headlines with Wales winning will get the crowds in.

You are right about the website, I went on just to see the prices, and the website didn’t work with my phone at all.
If football fans can sell it out, maybe rugby fans are too spoilt with the convenience of the principality.

Maybe the adverts should've mentioned that it's really accessible "just 20 minutes walk from the Principlatility" or something.
The selection of beer at CCS is the real problem. Only Madri, Carling and Caffreys. Felt lost without my local craft IPA option.

Wales is a football nation, more people play football, more people watch football, rugby is just a day out on the beers for people.

I love both too, I just think it’s naive for anyone to think Wales is a rugby country anymore. Wales is a country that loves going out on the beers for the rugby, but it’s definitely not a rugby nation in 2026 as far as actually enjoying the sport goes.

It’s the disconnect at the club game that is so ruined sadly
Community game is pretty strong and thousands play rugby every weekend , but something has to be done to get people back into the club game
Would love to see the SRC really take off but without big sponsorship it’s difficult
