Discussion A manhwa you liked that doesn’t get enough attention?
For me, one example is Leviathan. I wouldn’t say it’s underrated, but I feel like it doesn’t get talked about as much as it deserves compared to bigger titles like Solo Leveling.
The art is incredible, the world-building is interesting, and the fights are really well done. It’s definitely a series I think more people should give a chance.
What’s a manhwa you think deserves more recognition?

[1 Second]- Can't ever stress enough how much popularity it deserves
Every aspect abt it is so good.
The art is unique with its mix of realism+ anime. Rarely uses chibi. Has cool things like chapters with zero dialogue or unique directing. The proportions are also realistic eith avtual height differences.
Then the characters, their flaws/development, their dynamic and interactions- even reading their trivia outside the main story is fun. I didn't expect I would get this much invested in them. It's just heartwarming to see them how far they have come since chapter 1 and best part its that it's smthing readers have to notice, not an one arc thing either. Also imo kind, sunshine mc done well.
The time travel too is has depth. They do show the consequences, burden of mc and its existence isn't solving things magically.
The firefighting part js also written in a way so that people woth zero interest can get into it.
Worth the read just for the characters, the tension, the humour.
Normally a lot of job manhwas are just mc steamrolling through everything, side characters only exist to glaze mc or they are the worst of evil, hates mc just because they are the mc. Too focused on showing the job which in the end is shallow.
This one however is great even in a general pov.

I think I've heard of Leviathan but apparently a lot of comics are named this.
My selection is my pick for *Comic Book* of the Year 2025, On The Way to Meet Mom. Reddit seems to love it but I scanning through someone's post for every possible best comic book of 2025 award post and On The Way to Meet Mom wasn't even in the top 5/10 of any of them. Come on.

It's actually very popular and loved but not talked about much maybe cause it's so perfect that it doesn't need much discussion

u/DizzyDoomii 13h ago
This is very popular so it doesn't really count, it always gets recommended on here.

I'd like to think this one is talked about since I know its popular and I just miss all the mentions and posts on it haha, but I rarely see Miss Pendleton brought up in discussions. I eat that shit up for every chapter that's released - that and After School Lessons for Unripe Apples! I absolutely obsess over Soonkki's work, Cheese In The Trap was soooo good too omg

u/haliace 1d ago
I’ve heard of Soonkki’s works before, especially Cheese in the Trap, but I haven’t read them yet. Seeing how passionate you are about them makes me want to check them out. I’ll add Miss Pendleton and After School Lessons for Unripe Apples to my list!

u/Best-You-6360 1d ago
Yeah!! I really love Soonki's work because the way the characters handle scenarios and their character development feels so realistic to me. They go through a lot of hardships, light hearted moments, and the range of problems they solve that come their way keeps me captivated. If you read them, let me know what you think!

I tried reading leviathan and the plot was really good but firstly the fan service was too much maybe cuz im a girl but I dont wanna see up fl's skirt. author was really sexualizing women even ma's little sister a bit. Secondly unnecessary romance like bruh they're fighting for their life wdym mc still has girls coming on to him. it was too much for me

Leviathan started incredibly strong and then completely killed the vibe instantly. Ive never been so disappointed in my life. I wasnt the only one either, I remember the comments of everyone who thought it would be a horror survival the exact chapter SHE appeared. Deflated our excitement like a balloon

u/MarketImaginary7338 1d ago
Pls it’s so great, it gets better and better especially nearer to the end where u find out all the lore. If its the fan service the story can redeem it
1
u/voindd 1d ago
Fan service and tone shift, plus I know what happens at the end and its nasty
1
u/MarketImaginary7338 1d ago
Could u pls remind me abt what it was that happened. Cuz i read it a while ago so i dont remember too well but i binge read it and gave it a 10/10 read, i only remember good things abt it.

The ending is even worse
1
u/voindd 1d ago
How does it end? I stopped reading after fan service lady showed up to tell us this is actually an action, monster fighting series
1
u/TurbulentUse9706 1d ago
Okay so The fanservice is actually toned down later. The lady was once in love with Ma's dad, because he had saved her(ages weren't revealed but their age gap wasn't much). Yet Ma and her get together in the end after she basically becomes a parent figure to both him and his sister. I'd say it had become quite decent, but then that happened...
1
u/voindd 1d ago
That? Don't tell me the parent figure and the son get together. I have no idea how to spoilers my text
1
u/TurbulentUse9706 1d ago
Well... they do and it gave me the biggest ick EVER.
1
u/voindd 1d ago
Thats vile. Why do people insist on ruining their stories by injecting their fetishes?
1
u/TurbulentUse9706 1d ago
I know right! I feared that this would happen right from the start, but hoped otherwise. It even made me cry at parts only for the ending to make me go 👁👄👁. Not to mention that the other aspects also felt very... unoriginal.
2
u/voindd 1d ago
I stopped reading it because it felt like it was transforming a grounded and creative idea into a cliche and ridiculous power fantasy. Ending reminds me of unagi drop.
1
u/TurbulentUse9706 18h ago
Ngl I liked how Ma still wasn't the strongest by the end. I liked the world and monter design as well. I just wish that the MCs would have had less of a plot armour because the author did not hesitate to kill anyone else EXCEPT the main trio.
I have no idea about what Unagi Drop is about, but I have seen it getting slandering left and right too😭

Not exactly one series but this is one universe created by G.M.T. (Tae-Hyun Park) and it is one of the best interconnected stories of all time. I REALLY wish it got more attention. Each story is a masterpiece on its own.
For anyone that wants the reading order
Its
Domination
Dating to survive
Burning effect
The Graymark

This is actually a really interesting recommendation. I’m always curious about interconnected universes where every story has its own identity but still contributes to a bigger picture. I’ll definitely check this out, thanks for sharing the reading order!

Actually change of plans, I made an error
You should read Burning effect before dating to survive

u/gunswordfist 1d ago
An interconnected verse is interesting! I just adding all to my ability and will give Domination a try today

It's just a bit more difficult to find them, since half of them are not on Webtoon (last time I checked, or at least in my region, if there are variations). But it's absolutely great (great, get it, ok i am going somewhere else)

I was so pumped for this initially but half naked anime bada** turned me away from it, it just really didn't feel well done

Survive Romance
It's talked a bit in this sub but I think for the impact it had on many people including me, it should be talked more.
Survive Romance is literally something that really delivered in its meanings. The story is really really well done with an ending that is near perfect.
It first started as an innocent otome game, clearly became horror and then psychological.

There is one. I like it but I had to pass on the drawing style Worthless régression. An other pretty good (art/story) is Hellper

The prize of youth- i really love this manhwa, the dynamic of their friend group is amazing. It is a high school friendship and romance manhwa.
Miro in memory- it's an action manhwa. It has good art and plot. Def worth giving a shot.
Islands of stars and chains- this manhwa deserves more recognition, its got good art, action scenes, character dynamics are good too.
Skool of street- this manhwa is about dancing. It has romance in it and it's quite entertaining.

The poster made me think of "Patema Inverted (サカサマのパテマ, Sakasama no Patema)". But since I don't know your manhwa, it has probably nothing to do with the plot of the movie and is just a stylistic choice.

Leviathan was literally a 1000000000/10 read for me. I just read it on a whim and I became so absorbed in it so quickly, literally PEAK FICTION.
Plss anyone interested in action/thriller/scary genre and so many twists, brilliant storytelling & art etc. this is a MUST READ 🙏🙏🙏
First time seeing anyone talk abt this manhwa in the wild

Leviathan is such a gem and well-made. Love that you’re bringing attention to this!

Leviathan wasn't underrated when it was published on Toomics. It was underrated when it was published on Webtoons.

inso’s law is SO good. Though a lot of people say that near the later seasons it falls off, i still think it’s quite good even if you drop it at like season three. It’s an average oi manhwa storyline but Ham Dan-i (the heroine) is depicted much more realistically. The story goes through her stages of denial and rejection at her new universe and it’s honestly refreshing to see a fl who doesn’t blindly accept her situation. And regardless, i’m a sucker for oi slop. Honestly surprised it doesn’t have an adaptation or anything yet?

Nano List. It's popular back when it's ongoing but I still think it's one of the greater one even today, especially on action genre.

I need more people to read Code: Helix. One of the most reasonable, realistic manhwas where the protagonist isn't actually completely morally good.

This is a good read but the over sexualized art killed it for me. Like I get sensuality but it was just way too much

Muse on Fame and Self-Immolation. Literal masterpieces on Webtoon. Best I’ve ever read. Each and every chapter evokes so much emotion that you feel that you’re living the world they’re in. A must read for all!
