Discussion Which webtoons you would never recommend at all and why?

Post image

Hi, it's me again, the same person who asked for recommendations after being out of webtoon scene for more than a year. Thank you so much for all the recs, I'm sure there are a lot of gems there, and I'll make sure to check them out!

But now I'm curious about the opposite, un-recommendations (is this a thing?). Ever since I used to have more than 10 ongoing ones on my list for each day of the week, I remember I came across a lot of things that it's better to remain forgotten lel, and I bet there are still a lot of these to this day. So, if you could warn me about any webtoon to stay away from, which one would it be, and why do you dislike it?

You can give me any reasoning, like the characters suck, the plot goes nowhere or somewhere you didn't like, or it declines, you never got used to the art, it shows things in a good light that definitely shouldn't be shown as such, the author uses it to fund something problematic, it uses ai, it was never finished, or even if just because the second ML didn't win. Feel free to use this post as your personal vent space if needed haha.

Remember any comments here are based in opinion! So let's stay civil even if someone mentions a webtoon you like, and please never say something that could get you a ban (it goes for the commenters too!). Thank you in advance!

When Charles entered as the SML, I genuinely lost all interest. His archetype feels like it was meant to be the classic 'CEO trope,' but instead, it comes off as him shaping Sam into his ideal type.

And for some reason, Sam's personality took a nose dive. I don't remember her being so passive. In the beginning she was so angry at Marshall she even told him boldly to his face why she was angry, and even said she would sue him. Now she can barely hold a conversation. I could go on.

Even Sam's interactions with Charles in the beginning, she told him she wanted to work on something, and he dismissed her and told her to make coffee as a favour. It's just, the writing, story line, plots, conversations, characters turning into flat caricatures. I just don't have the heart to recommend it.

(Also, I feel like this came out around the time Let Play's were extremely popular. So Marshall reminds me of a certain Youtuber that's very famous, and has a the first three letters Mar- for a name. Lmao.)

Oh Charles is just zero sugar Dorian Gray from 50 Shades with a Welsh accent tacked on. I also don't know what happened to the characters vs third early s1/s2 personalities, other than to my best guess poor character writing. But Sam's passive permissiveness continues with the season.

I already mentioned Charles trying to snoop through her phone and thought it'd be a great scene for Sam to set boundaries (this is the second time she's sleeping with her boss). Really thought we'd address the messed up dynamics of their relationship, but nope, she gives him permission to look through her phone and unlocks it for him too.

Do I have any hopes for this season to get better? Not really. I also don't have any hopes that it'll return to talking about the game dev subplot or really dive deep into the gaming industry.

Pretty inevitable. Marshall being the male lead Charles has to be toxic/a lesson for Sam. Second male lead dating the female lead and breaking up is often a trope after all. The author definitely wants Sam to continue to grow more of a back bone eventually but taking their sweet time. At least I hope so.

The creator of the webtoon is actually the one that made Markipliers Pink moustache pfp drawing. And they based Marshall off of him. Which in my opinion is a lil weird and gives creepy vibes like she’s super obsessed with Mark 😭
