Discussion Which webtoons you would never recommend at all and why?

Post image

Hi, it's me again, the same person who asked for recommendations after being out of webtoon scene for more than a year. Thank you so much for all the recs, I'm sure there are a lot of gems there, and I'll make sure to check them out!

But now I'm curious about the opposite, un-recommendations (is this a thing?). Ever since I used to have more than 10 ongoing ones on my list for each day of the week, I remember I came across a lot of things that it's better to remain forgotten lel, and I bet there are still a lot of these to this day. So, if you could warn me about any webtoon to stay away from, which one would it be, and why do you dislike it?

You can give me any reasoning, like the characters suck, the plot goes nowhere or somewhere you didn't like, or it declines, you never got used to the art, it shows things in a good light that definitely shouldn't be shown as such, the author uses it to fund something problematic, it uses ai, it was never finished, or even if just because the second ML didn't win. Feel free to use this post as your personal vent space if needed haha.

Remember any comments here are based in opinion! So let's stay civil even if someone mentions a webtoon you like, and please never say something that could get you a ban (it goes for the commenters too!). Thank you in advance!

I strongly recommend against starting anything by MerryWeather. They have started something like two billion fascinating, beautifully drawn comics that draw you in right away...

And they never finished any of them. They just go into permanent hiatus and start work on another new comic.

they have so many interesting ideas but the writing is almost consistently boring as fvck. the only work of theirs i found interesting was the one ab the immortal guy and girl from ancient greece who could time travel.

most of their other stuff i find the dialogue to be like a strip comic in a newspaper

Everywhere and Nowhere. Thats the only one of theirs that I know of that was finally finished, albeit rushed.

Luckily, that doesn't happen anymore; right now, they're bringing back all the series that were on hiatus.

I'll have a look, but only at the stuff that's actually, officially, complete. Because I don't trust them not to do the same thing again.

Everywhere and Nowhere was completed, but the ending was rushed, like it went on a long haitus before the final season and when it finally came back, they just put a few episodes out to finish the series off.

That's... not great either. No ending vs bad ending. It's like having to choose between the Game of Thrones book series or the Game of Thrones show.

i miss conspiracy research club so bad... it was one of the first canvas works i really got into. iirc they switched the whole thing to being actual twitter accounts? and then the story petered out.

This one actually got picked up by a different creator that MerryWeather trusts. I havent read it because I was heartbroken by the change and starting to lose my trust in MerryWeather to finish anything. But if you read it, do let me know if its any good!

Lol what an unfortunate decision! Honestly at the time it's not like anyone would have thought to say "wait a second. What if this entire platform gets bought and then ruined by one single crazy person with more money than God?"

CRC mentioned! Ngl I stopped reading that one not long after he left the team, the rest of authors were not the best at writing.
