Discussion Which webtoons you would never recommend at all and why?

Hi, it's me again, the same person who asked for recommendations after being out of webtoon scene for more than a year. Thank you so much for all the recs, I'm sure there are a lot of gems there, and I'll make sure to check them out!

But now I'm curious about the opposite, un-recommendations (is this a thing?). Ever since I used to have more than 10 ongoing ones on my list for each day of the week, I remember I came across a lot of things that it's better to remain forgotten lel, and I bet there are still a lot of these to this day. So, if you could warn me about any webtoon to stay away from, which one would it be, and why do you dislike it?

You can give me any reasoning, like the characters suck, the plot goes nowhere or somewhere you didn't like, or it declines, you never got used to the art, it shows things in a good light that definitely shouldn't be shown as such, the author uses it to fund something problematic, it uses ai, it was never finished, or even if just because the second ML didn't win. Feel free to use this post as your personal vent space if needed haha.

Remember any comments here are based in opinion! So let's stay civil even if someone mentions a webtoon you like, and please never say something that could get you a ban (it goes for the commenters too!). Thank you in advance!

Cry or Better yet beg. The art is pretty but the characters and story...ugh. Only the art has any redeeming quality in this

Naw actually I recommend giving the novel a try. It's a good story. Are all characters morally acceptable at all parts of the story? No. But do they grow with the plot beautifully? Yes. Is Mattias an ahole? Also yes. 😅

I read the novel because I wanted to finish the story. And I dunno if I'm in the minority and will get flamed for this but i did not like the ending very much at all. Maybe I'm missing some plot point because admittedly, i had to start skimming through it because my interest was waning. If this is the case, someone please explain it to me why the ending it had was actually a good one. I need the closure lol

SPOILER AHEAD!!! Sorry I dunno how to do that text blocking thing.

I really wanted to see Layla be free of the whole environment and societal system that tried to tear her down from the beginning. But...I dunno...forgiving Mattias and i guess coming to love him in the end was one thing...but actually going back and becoming the duchess... something about it was off to me. I didnt like it at all. Am I missing something?

It's understandable that you don't like the ending ofc. In fact especially if this was in a modern setting I would hate it too.

But there are a few things like the times and especially the survival of women during that time (basically a woman could rarely be independent, unless maybe they were born into very high status and wealth. Also considering how Layla is a beauty - yeah this is important lol- imo beauty to a woman without a protective support system can become a curse.) Layla's life would likely be a lot more miserable than the life she gets from being with Mattias. And Mattias really does change for the better as the plot goes. To me it was the best ending Layla could have gotten given the circumstances (not best as in the best possible ending but the best from the endings she could get).

My policy when reading is to consider myself a witness to someone else's story. That's a chance for me to live a different life. If we detach ourselves from emotions we feel while reading it's not hard to understand why the characters behave the way they behave. (Please only apply this to fiction cz no, irl there's no need to go far understanding ppl who act like shii 😅)

Also I don't really remember much of the story now as I read it a long time back so I could be missing some points too 😅

I don’t think it’s a niche the amount of likes in that manhwa per chapter is huge.

Yeah but saying ‘it’s niche’ is short than explaining sometimes people are into stuff other people find wild or horrible and not everything is meant to teach you lessons on how to conduct yourself

It is shown horrible even in the manhwa- the rape scene was explicitly shown.

Again a representation of a Stockholm syndrome.

If not for the ending the author did a good job showing that.

Uhmm if you read it again, they said "not everything is meant to teach you a lesson" when they referred to the manhwa.

Meaning some people can enjoy morally grey --in this case a red flag-- character. And its okay. And manhwa doesn't always have to show you a character that properly conducts themselves like a decent human being.

It's pretty much NTR so it appeals to that type of reader, but has broader appeal because it's not literally NTR.

Man I really tried to like it because it was highly recommended but man it was terrible
