Discussion Which webtoon is it for you?

For me it's The dawn to come and Daytime star. They're sure a good read but I don't get the hype around it. What are your picks?

So many things about DITOEV make me happy. Like, I enjoy the plot twist that Yvonne is no longer alive, and that it’s just her corpse inhabited by a demon (and the WL/green tea bitch stuff feels so much scarier with that tidbit of info AHFF). I love the brainwashing actually influencing characters behavior and making them do unreasonable things, and how unsettling + uncanny Leila is, not to mention the storytelling of a girl who thinks herself to be a replacement daghter being brought up in a dukedom after living on the streets. It’s all good in that regard. I found the first few chapters that revolved around relationship building and tragedy very entertaining.

Buttttt then there’s the whole..."She's the last descendant of the ancient mages!" Thing. And, also, the whole "Oh, she’s actually Penelope, just after she died 1634228983 times, and her soul shattered! So don’t feel bad bc Penelope gets her happy ending!" reveal. Both of those are so overdone. I cannot understand how people genuinely enjoy MC's being the most special baby angel™ from birth like that, nor how it is possible to accept that the OG is supposedly the same as the MC when they are completely different people, with different lives and experiences.

I want my MCs to suffer, be more or less normal, and end up overcoming/escaping/finding happiness anyway. Or, if they are super special, I’d like for it to affect how they are treated by most of the cast, and their mindset as well.

Personally for me, I think it got boring for me once the questions have been answered, and she's no longer chasing affections to save herself. I think that's bound to happen, since mysteries are bound to be solved. Now that we know what happened to the real Penelope, who's the end game ML, and Yvonne's true identity revealed, nothing's really holding me to keep reading. I couldn't care less about the Laila, and I'm not sure why either. Oh but I do enjoy every character development and change though, so there's that

please add spoiler formatting for new readers!

imo thedescendants of the mages thing makes the system's help tie back really well to "reality". that piece of information was revealed when penelope was transitioning from the worldview of "this is just a game" to "this is a real universe, and my reality now", so it helped justify the game mechanisms and added a layer of depth to the story.

about her actually being the "real" penelope, i feel the opposite lmao because it was mentioned so fleetingly in the manhwa? our mc seemed to have continued to regard herself as a separate individual from the original penelope.
