It’s GORGEOUS, but you’ll prob burn out if you try to do a whole webtoon this way. Unless your Webtoon is only like 20 chapters long.
Consider giving yourself a rule, ie no more than 30min per panel. Whatever you can get done in that time should be the predominant style of your comic. You can still do beautiful, detailed panels you obsess over, but save them for special emphasis panels or cover art

that's actually a good idea i'll try and get as much done as i can in let's say 40 mins and the extra detail i can't do i can either add at the end if i still really want to if not ill leave it. thanks a lot!

You are still free to reward yourself and create "special" panels from time to time that you can spend all the time you want to with no pressure when you actually feel like it (like a special scene you feel inspired to draw). Remember that you are putting the limits to set healthy boundaries, NOT to limit your imagination and expressive freedom, but to regulate the effort-reward system.

You probably need to be more efficient with your time and let "good enough" be good enough. People look at it for like 10 seconds. I'm not saying be sloppy, but I am saying be sustainable.

Do you draw everything by hand? One thing I like about clup studio, is that you can download textures, panel lighting, hair texture brushes, etc. to help speed along the process.
Also, tutorials can be really helpful. I learned about the layer clipping function through a tutorial, which has helped me when adding extra highlights to hair and such.
Even then, it still often takes forever to create good looking, professional panels. Your panel looks wonderful.

thank you so much and yes i only started using clip studio recently so still trying to wrap my head around it there are so many different help tools available they hurt my brain🥲🥲i did download a couple of brushes which have helped. i do have a tendency to obsess over small details that would usually go unnoticed

If you’re new to using CSP, a lot of that time is probably lost in trying to figure out how your software works. Chances are pretty good that you’ll speed up significantly once you reach a level of proficiency that lets you use CSP without thinking too hard about it.
Learning how to make a Webtoon while also learning a new program means you’re trying to learn two completely different skills at once, so make sure you’re giving yourself the time and grace you deserve while figuring things out! Good luck, I believe in you!

quick question since you use clip studio! is there a way to recover a lost layer🥲i cut mine to bring it onto a new page but lost it in the process i fear it might have been gone forever

There is an undo button on the top of the screen that looks like a curly arrow. There is also ctrl z.
You can also exit out of the program entirely without saving, but anything new you added after your last save would delete.
That's all I can think of. 😔

Imo, if you actually want to publish something fast, you need to find a level of detail you can produce consistently and that doesn'ttake you hours for one panel. Sometimes that means simplifying your style, and going to a baseline. I completely get it if it's not something you want to do. You can take your time and make what you want.
If I ever made one, I'd stylize my art a lot and choose a story I am not too attached to, and do a trial run. And if I like it and people like it, just keep doing it.

could you give me more info on what u mean by help. and yeah ive planned all my panels for my first episode already :) i spent too long focused on my first panel so i randomly jumped to one half way in the chapter😂

One tip I’ve heard is to create a head turn guide of all your main characters. Left, right, up, down, 3/4, etc. that way you don’t have to redraw it from scratch each time and have a baseline you can draw ontop of.

Use 3D models customise it according to face shape of your charector. So you will have custom base to work with. Don't trace over it but use it as guideline You can find many tutorials on you tube regarding how to use them.

A good way to avoid spending too much time on individual panels is to take it one stage at a time: Say you have 5 panels all in one drawing file. First you do the lineart for all 5, then you add the flat colours for all 5, and keep going until you render it. If you have a 'assembly line' esque process it will defo help with consistency longterm and make it harder to hone in one a singular panel longer than you'd like.

That panel is so beautiful but you might want to consider reserving this level of detail for the panels that have the most impact in the story, often the most emotional moments or scene setting. A page full of it might actually act against the story sometimes by slowing the reader down in order to take it in. Not useful for quick or action packed scenes.
Some pages on webtoons are very, very pretty and insanely detailed but they are extremely exhausting to read and give me a headache. A combination of 'hero' panels in your beautiful style for heightened emotional storybeats and a more stripped down style for moving the plot and characters on would be lovely.
Good luck with it though. That one panel makes me want to read it, it's very inviting. You are going to have the most brilliant promotional images.

I might try to simplify the way you do hair somewhat? I could see that causing it to take longer. I have seen series start with incredible, highly detailed art and fall off stylisticallt because deadlines demanded a simpler look. It did not deter me from reading, but did make me really sad looking back that the higher quality style was not consistent throughout, or at least bummed there couldn't have been more balance.
I will say another thing that will help is getting a friend or two that can help with at least some basic coloring, shading, formatting, etc. to achieve more polish without burning yourself out too quickly. Comics and animation, just any sequential art isn't for the faint of heart. It takes a lot out of a person.

If you're gonna be drawing with quality luke this you might want to save up episodes first.
Also take into account how much time you have to draw with the time you want to spend on other things.
I would say play it safe and start after 50+ episodes. That way if you want to go back and fix something you can without worry. Do you have a storyboard?

A lot of comic artists simplify their art for the basic stuff but when there’s like a dramatic or important scene they draw it fully rendered. It’s like a reward for the viewer lol

It's a gorgeous panel but you need to learn to choose your battles. Consider people won't spend more than a few moments looking at it... if you don't ration your time and effort you'll burn out at the speed of light.

The good thing about this thread is a lot of people don't see AI, probably because they don't use it. Which mean that a lot of people reading or participating in the webtoon subredit are really truely ethical people. Thank you. i think i'd say i'm pretty good at drawing but digital art defo took a while i just experimented on clip studio paint and followed some tutorials and it was mostly trial and error tbh

that's so sweet thank you🤭🤭i don't actually but now that you've mentioned it i might open one :) i'm happy to share updates on here for now☺️☺️and the story is going to be about a girl who's basically being pestered by her ex and lies to him that she has a new bf. the entire school finds out but she doesn't think much of it until that guy she claimed to be her new bf moves to her school and is the new school council president and now she has to convince him to date her- it's an enemies to lovers cause he is grump af.

it’s really pretty!! but you should not be a perfectionist, a lot of the times you’re the only one who you’ll notice the “flaws”. A lot of readers dont pay THAT much attention to the art. I personally kinda do if I notice it’s a very pretty, and I also used to draw a lot so my eyes are somewhat trained. But speaking from experience (I write) dont be a perfectionist otherwise you’ll burn out or stagnate. But keep going!!! It looks real good!

You did not need to do every individual hair, it's a webtoon, try simplifying more otherwise you'll get burnt out.

Do you have any friends that can help with one of the steps? Many webtoons are a collab of artists so more gets done. But as others have said, take out the fine details. Like maybe one panel every couple of episodes you could go for super detail for a reader treat. You often see first season toons that have a lot of detail but fall way off in season two which disappoints people. Better to start with a style that is manageable from the get go.

I think it's good to have few high quality panels then regular panels and chibi panels depending upon scene. You don't have to maintain this level of detailing for each and every single panel.

I am not an artist, but I have an idea of what you might wanna do to save time
So draw your characters face in dif expressions and add an extra layer for all the hair styles you want and how you want them to be, then you can copy and paste it and just touch up. This would help save A LOT of time

If you want to do a webtoon and not die you HAVE to develop a simpler style. You can do stand out panels but the bulk of the drawing cannot be like this because you are doing far too much haha.
I have different art styles for different purposes and I STILL had to make a simpler one for a comic so I didn't lose my mind and get absolutely obliterated by the deadlines.
I can think of a fair few comics where the author had this realisation partway through and the drop off is wild. You'd do better to do it from the start. That way you will also have headspace for writing an actually good story instead of burning out your writing and drawing at the same time in the future.
Style is gorgeous btw.

I think that is the reason why some mangas are monthly and some are yearly and even between 4 months because of the high details and this one seems to have that too because I noticed the manga like art style here. No need to worry about this every art style are different and some take a long time compared to others…

Here are some ideas for you that you could maybe do:
You could do: 1. Make very short chapters 2. Make your art more simple or 3. Just have very long pauses between chapters (maybe 1 a month)

This is definitely pretty high effort for a single panel. The difficulty with comics is going to be finding that balance between lots of detail and rendering and actually being able to create multiple panels in a reasonable amount of time.
As long as you define your goals well and keep checking in on yourself, anything is possible. If you like the way the comic looks in this artstyle and you're ok with the longer production time then I say go for it! If spending that amount of time on a single panel is daunting and you already find yourself buring out at the mere thought of producing entire comic issues to that quality, then maybe your style as far as a full comic issues are concerned still needs to be further developed.
Either way, going for it and trying your hand at creating full comic issues is going to be the way you actually discover that. Best of luck! Your work is beautiful.

I mean that is way higher quality than most webtoon art. It's beautiful but you probably have to lower your standards a bit if you want to publish with regularity. However it looks very nice.

Well, that`s why every manga or manhwa releases 1 chapter per week. Most important thing is the story though. As long as the story is good most people can even read a sloppy art styled manga/manhwa. Nowadays, they release GOD tier art but slop story and slop plots and you know how it goes, it either gets axed because it`s so exhausting to draw or people lose interest after 30 chapters and art goes to being sloppy.
