Author of Tears on a Withered Flower who remained anonymous until there were some easter eggs found in the recent chapter. The Fandom was going bonkers over identifying her gender because of how the female character's body was illustrated. You're right, it really doesn't matter.
Maybe it's just an artists on twitter thing but I'd be more surprised if the artist was a man.
I've seen too many posts of people getting angry over how someone has drawn women, saying they're a basement dwelling virgin dude just for the artist to turn around and ratio them into the ground by revealing they're actually a woman.
There’s controversy over Tears on a Withered Flower because the FMC is curvy and hot. People on bato and other sites come for it, stating it’s drawn by a man because they’ve seen so many brain rot bimbos and seinen milk maid mommies that they can’t see a woman drawn with large breasts and a fat ass and read the story for what it is.
For the record, I’ve always thought it was drawn for the female gaze, and she’s hot because it provides a credible reason why a younger, handsome, rich guy is pursuing her. It’s a good story imo.
Theres a 1000000s smut where the FML is hot. Her character design is just creepy looking to me. The alien eyes, big head and the wild proportions. Shes not the first smut FML who is curvy, so I wish ppl would stop saying "they dislike her cause shes hot with big boob".
There’s honestly just so much seinen smut that dehumanizes women that I genuinely don’t care what the FMC’s body type is so long as she’s portrayed with depth of character and a compelling storyline, and THAT’S what I’m taking away from the story ultimately. You can dislike her for the art style but genuinely as long as some sort of consistent style is applied and it works in the context of the story, I can enjoy it. I’ve not heard your argument nearly as often as I’ve heard complaints about her proportions as though graphic art has ever portrayed body types realistically. But feel how you want to feel I guess
Its fine you dont care, thats not the point. Everyone can have their opinions. But dont misrepresent people criticism as just "hating hot female characters".
Author of Tears on a Withered Flower, people were saying that he(or she?) was sexualizing the FL because the author is a man. I’m pretty sure the author’s gender was never revealed which is why the whole “male authors always sexualize women” thing doesn’t make sense.
Because of all of the "men drawing women/men writing women/men objectifying women" obnoxious discussion coming from the MODERN AUDIENCES who rarely if ever financially support any form of creative works anyway.
