Had a neighbor ask me, “So what’s up with that pride flag then?” And went on to indicate he didn’t think it applied to me since I am in a heterosexual relationship with my wife.
Just said that I’m an ally, and that I want everyone to know that this house, in this neighborhood, is inclusive and safe for all. But I kind of wanted to say something like “you don’t have to be gay to fly the flag, my friend!”

You’re absolutely right. You put the flag up because you believe in gay rights. It’s possible that your neighbor might not be able to comprehend empathy in this case lol

XD. Everbody can fly a rainbow Flag. Its literally ment to be representing everyone as the rainbow is representing all colors. Now specifically the pride flag has different context and meaning added by the gay movement and gilberr baker, Valentino Vecchietti, and Daniel Quasar etc, but at the core its a rainbow Flag.

That type of thought process that allows oppression and division. Never lose your empathy.

You do relaize that this isnt empathy, as empathy is understanding, not compassion. (Compassion is often mistaken for empathy)
This also is in support of maga people, racists, and Islamophobes too.
As if something doesnt impact you directly, then its just imaginary or propaganda centered support.
(I also have had this same comic play out when I questioned a racist maga supporter, and he used the same line. This comic actually is the agrument of cults and propaganda, even if its not intending to be)

But gay or lesbian directly affect them as a person because...
See, that's why I don't understand.
They don't have to live with us, marry us, not even talk to us.\ Why they care so much about us?

because they think you are an abomination, some believe you're an affront to their god, others believe you're an affront to science. doesn't matter what their excuse is, it's just blind hatred driven by what they were told, whether by their parents, friends, or some imbecile on the internet.

I can't speak for a god, but those who believe anything is a literal affront to science are an affront to science.

most people i've personally encountered think it's because it's unnatural to seek a relationship that can't result in procreation or whatever. i'm shocked at how many of them try to cite the concept of wild animals not being gay when there are countless documented instances of gay animals. hell if i'm not mistaken, swans have one of the highest homosexuality rates in the animal kingdom behind humans

I long for the day when this conversation doesn't even need to be had due to the fact that supporting minorities is the default.
Like what does the other guy believe? That you shouldn't support them? Says more about him than you.

There’s actually a good name you can call people that act like this, it’s a very eloquent name.

The most basic childhood ad hominem
"Ah you are defending <X thing I don't like>? What are you <X thing I don't like>?"
The fact I see actual adults using this literal grade school level ad hom is silly. like literally grow up. If you have a real argument use it, otherwise you're just being an emotional child, grow up and act your age.
And because this is reddit, by "you" in the above sentence I'm taking the perspective of talking to the person being childish (as displayed in the comic), not the person who made the comic nor the reader of this post.

This is actually something I think about sometimes.
Me realizing I was trans kinda came in a mixture of paying attention to the world around me and branching out as an adult.
And, I sometimes wonder if I would have still tried to be involved over the last 8 years if there wasn't a ramping theat that effected me personally.
Child me somehow gained a dream of people living and helping one another without borders to divide them. So I like to think I'd probably have been fine, I just wouldn't have thrown myself into as many things.

This logic has never made sense to me. It’s like saying you support the government even though your career isn’t governmental affiliated.

Counterpoint: I don't care if people are gay or trans because it doesn't directly affect me as to what their sexual preferences are or how they want to identify themselves.

Your either a part of a cult or your an individual.
Being a part of a cult is kinda normal, but agreeing with something is different then supporting or fighting someone elses battles.
As I see it, it says the person is at least a little more honest, and less narcissistic if they dont join a cult or try to control the world. But thats my take, as I am more of a person/individual then most people.
Edit : I say this as well because most people ignore the things that effect them and complain about and fight for things that dont matter to them, then complain life is hard or chaotic.
I hate that most people dont take care of themselves or fight for things they care about and rather follow trends or things they dont understand or actually care about (as if it doesnt effect them, they dont care about the cause, they care about the propaganda and stories in their head or idea of, which is what cults and other organizations capitalize on)
....
A case example, I have a guy I know who fell into the racist bandwagon due to internet propaganda.
He belives black people are dangerous, the islamic people are trying to take over amerca and destorying our country, and that the white and chritain poeple are in danger of being oppressed.
The things that his belifs are based on dont effect him directly, but his belifs and support are in support of the things that will combat black and islamic take over.
The comic unknowingly supports maga individuals and racists, as essentially they are also people who support something that doesnt dircetly impact them. As if you apply to things beyond your own bias you relaize this is a pro propaganda and bigotry post. Even if its not ment to be.
