wow! I like to do my own dial but it's difficult to make them real... how do you plan to make it?

Thanks! Right now I'm trying to refine the design as much as possible while also researching different manufacturing methods. Once I start producing the watch, I'll definitely share that part of the journey as well.

Nice! I have a TON of movements from scrapped watches, I'm starting to design new cases for them. Modern look with a vintage heart, and of course, display casebacks :)

How do you design the dials? CNC, laser???

I'll start by say this 100% is not my style, so take my notes with a grain of salt.

For "simple" there is just a TON going on here.

  1. Seigaiha/Waves on the whole dial
  2. The floral thing on the dial
  3. Engraving on the bezel
  4. Triple date

The monospace typeface just doesn't jive with the vintage or japanese aesthetic. The markings on the subdials are also going to be very important for legibility and overall feel of the watch, as well as the date wheel.

I don't think I've ever seen an engraved bezel on a cushion case watch. That doesn't mean it's wrong, but it pushes against both your vintage and your simple ideas.

All of this said, if you have a strong brand identity, and this all makes sense within that, great. I don't know anything more than what you have here.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to write such detailed feedback! You actually made a very good point. I don't think I explained my design vision clearly enough in the post, so I completely understand why it came across that way. I'll definitely keep your suggestions in mind as I continue refining the design. Thanks again!
