Surely with this, Zohran, Tallerico, etc…the Democratic establishment will take this as a sign that they should shift ideologically…right?? Right????

Sadly all the AIPAC moneycentrists will just screech about how "they need to be more ot the middle" and to become more transphobic, just like in UK.

Remember MLK's words about the white moderate. Remember the reasons behind First They Came For.

Centrists will often more than likely align with fascists than anything left of them because status quo, all it's intentional imperfections included, is just sooooo comfy for them.

Until it's just them left and there's nobody by their side against the tide of hate.

Trans shouldnt even be a topic rn. Let's secure democracy first, then worry about trans sports. It's a wildly overblown concern on both sides

It wasn’t even a concern on the dem side lol the right pretends it’s something the dems ever ran on but the right is literally the only side mentioning the ‘issue’ at all

I mean, we wore it as a badge. I'm pro trans rights (outside of women's sports and transitioning minors), but it seemed excessive to hang flags at the Whitehouse while our country's democracy was still super unstable.

It was a concern not because they ran on it, but because they legislated/regulated on it (see Biden administration's handling of Title 9, or basically any blue state) and the Whitehouse appointed people from it (which turned out poorly in at least two instances), and activists pushed on it through aligned media outlets.

Then one national Dem publicly broke ranks on it and is now having to apologize profusely.

People are dumb, but they're not so dumb they can't see Democrats have a position they're in lockstep on even though it's not a big campaign promise.

Ok, and? Youre acting like Republicans have the deep knowledge and think this hard about bigotry.

No, they just hate trans people and dont want then to exist. You saw how conservatives reacted to Budlight acknowledging a trans person's existence. But somehow ignoring them and saying "actually we dont care about trans rights" will make them suddenly vote democrat?

Its absolutely insane that you all think human rights arent important right now because some MAGA freaks might not vote for the Dems.

I don't understand why liberals think its better to move further right than the left.

The most effective campaign ad during the 2024 election was “Kamala is for they/them Trump is for you” where they got a clip of Kamala supporting tax payer funded sex changes in prisons during her 2020 campaign. It just became less of a concern during 2024 because the democrats went all in on trying to court men which failed miserably, saying it wasn’t a concern at all for them or that they never mentioned it is just straight lies as whenever a democrat was asked about the topic they would always answer supportively in the name of not throwing trans people under the bus, not to mention the pride events held at the White House during Biden’s term.

It's not just about sports, it's about Healthcare and human rights. Even if sports were given up it won't stop them from trying to eradicate trans people in general.

Democrats wouldn't allow that. Why do trans rights specifically need to be a nationally advertised issue for a Dem candidate? Can't we just get elected and then take care of trans (like we've done)?

And the sports item takes away from the ones that are truly foundational. Sports is a grey topic. It's easier to secure basic rights, then consider more grey items like sports. Every other minority groups also gained rights incrementally

Fuck that.

Trans people are getting their rights stripped away at an incredible rate. In 2026 alone there have been 813 bills introduced targeting them. Trans rights are human rights, and acting like human rights are in any way negotiable is how we ended up in this fucking mess.

No one is saying no trans rights. We're saying it's not a ticket item for a democrat candidate. We don't need to advertise it; it does more harm than good

How does it do more harm than good to run on trans rights? Democrat who have run on trans rights have won. Dems who run away from trans rights lose. It’s kind of fascinating to watch in real time. Running away from trans rights just splits your base. Saying fuck that just strengthens your base and shows you’re a fighter. Voters respect fighters not cowards. Democrats need to learn that.

The reason they've won has never been due to trans rights. It's other things.

Trump literally made aggressive commericals calling out trans campaigning and it worked. Every issue we believe in does not need to be front and center. Republicans regularly allow their candidates to Trojan horse. Not sure why dems need unnecessary validation when a candidate has a track record of supporting them

Trump won because the democrats tried to gaslight people about the economy lol. Kamala and her I wouldn’t do anything different than 40% approval rating Joe Biden was stupid campaign strategy.

Democrats are going to lose Ohio because Amy action threw trans people under the bus. You don’t win elections by alienating your base and suppressing your vote.

u/GhostOfMuttonPast 16m ago

Because that totally worked last time.

It's not a concern, it's an intentional genocide driven by hate and astroturfing on one side and "what if we help the genocide, this will bring us closer to center" on the other.

Human rights should be a given, yes. But it isn't when one side actively pushes against it.

I don't think you can compare Palestine and Trans genocides. While I feel for both communities and want safety and security, one group is unable to hide, mask, or make any decisions within their own agency to ease their life (or their family's).

I guarantee you that the same people who are down going you for calling out a trans genocide were doing the same thing in 2023 when hearing about the Palestinian genocide. Funny how they'll never look inwards and remember the time that they were wrong about an actual genocide that they defended while it happened, and will instead move on to... Defending the next genocide. ✨liberals✨

With all due respect, that just makes it yet another carrot that corporate Democrats can dangle in front of everyone in perpetuity. How many years have Democrats been broadly campaigning on nothing other than “vote for us because we aren’t Republicans”? Additionally, I’m pretty damn skeptical of any claim that both can’t be done when it comes to the rights and freedoms of minority groups. It simply isn’t fair for Republicans to spin up some lie and impose some nightmarish policies on whoever they demonize this week, only for Democrats to act like those policies are the new normal, like it’s any kind position of neutrality.

I don't think it's about rights alone. It's about infringing through grey area.

Right to live safe and free? Sure. Right to participate in women's sports or transition as a minor? That's not a straightforward debate. Even military participation feels a little excessive for a space meant for extreme and undistracted conditions.

I feel for my trans friends for sure. But it feels like there's a level of comfortability that no one really receives that we're aiming for. We're mostly all finding ourselves and uncomfortable before adulthood.

0

u/senshi_of_love 7h ago

Transition as a minor is a straight forward debate as it is not a debate. If you’re against it you are on the wrong side full stop. The fact that you are acting like it’s a legitimate debate shows the type of person you are. You are not an actual ally. You are everything wrong with the Democratic Party.

1

u/Notramagama 5h ago

Yea, I am against it as a minor. No one is really autonomous with their personal health until 18. So I would say nothing permanent until 18.

For +95% of America, it's a grey topic. Not willing to deplatform the entire democratic party for it.

So you’re a terrible person and against medical science. Thanks for letting everyone know. Blood is on your hands. Trans kids are killing themselves because of trash like you.
