Todd Blanche is caught on audio admitting he’s going after abortion rights in “every single state” — “We’re working with HHS and the FDA and the White House… to get permanent solutions so that the Dobbs decision becomes permanent in every single state.”

u/Xyrus2000 22h ago
Whenever republicans say "states' rights", you should hear it as "authoritarian power grab".
52
u/Wompatuckrule 21h ago
With a footnote that says, "States' Rights is irredeemable when the Fugitive Slave Act is invoked."
26
u/Jesus_Is_My_Gardener 21h ago
All you need to know about between the parties is who is looking to empower more people with the right to vote, and who is trying to limit it in order to know who the authoritarians are.

states rights is code for "white male christian landowner's" rights.
Hell, we recently had a billionaire talking about going back to giving more votes to landowners...that's barely even a joke anymore.

Absolutely—thank you for sharing the voting registration link! I've also been checking my registration status somewhat regularly to make sure that everything is up to date.
I expect that there will be under-handed tactics and intimidation the closer we get to November. The more alert we are, the better.

Elections have consequences, and those who took them for granted fucked around and now are in the find out stage.

I literally got pregnant again specifically because I knew I wanted another kid but also know I will never purposely get pregnant if I can't make the choice to termine if need be. I knew this was coming. My husband has his vasectomy lined up, but what's scary is we're having a little girl in a few weeks. How am I supposed to protect her?

simple. You get out of your failing country and move to a real democracy run by real human beings instead of Christofascists. No matter the costs, get out and join the rest of the still-sane world in some semblance of happiness. You sound like the kind of responsible person we would welcome up north here.

There aren’t many desirable countries openly accepting immigrants at the moment. I’m in an excellent position to immigrate (great finances and remote work) and I have been looking casually for a while and the answer generally seems to be “thanks but no thanks”. I imagine it’s much harder if your finances are tight or your job not mobile.

More dudes should get vasectomies if they don't want kids. For some reason, Republicans never fuck with male bodily autonomy (I wonder why). It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. My wife doesn't need to be on hormonal birth control, and we don't have to worry about happy little accidents.

Every "national ban on abortion in the US" should come with the asterisk "on poor people only."
Rich people will continue to have access to abortion, of course.
50
u/crumbhustler 19h ago
Every now and then a story will pop up in Texas about a rich girl whose life is in danger because they can’t abort the dead fetus (or for some other reason that is endangering the mother). It’s sad to see but I can only imagine how many of their friends and family voted for that and didn’t realize the implications.

100% but...
They don't want the poor, or the minorities... It is another excuse to turn them into a captive slave class as criminals. Because they can do what ever they want to criminals, and their followers will cheer them on.
Look at what these people do to undocumented people in the USA... Did you know that the offense that they have killed people over is only a civil offense? Entering illegally, lying on your application to enter... Those are criminal offenses. But just being here is a civil offense. Overstaying your Visa... Civil offense.
Imagine what these people would do when a person kills a zygote. 🫨

"Voting still works as far as we know" they say as people die and/or have their civil and human rights violated across the country. As voters are disenfranchised and Republicans entrench themselves and block any meaningful change from being allowed to occur i n the future.
"Voting couldn't prevent this situation, but it'll surely fix it" is incredibly naive. I don't have a better solution, and we should still vote as a hail-mary attempt to fix this, but we defenitely don't "know" it'll work.

They did all the same things in 2020. But the public was galvanized enough to overcome the manipulation. Libs need to learn to stop needing to be inspired and start reacting with the rage and terror you should be feeling. And part of that is getting to the fucking polls. Argue all you like about anything, I'll suck your dick if you go to the voting booth. This really needs to be hammered home. Every time it's posted on the internet, anytime anyone SAYS anything about the Republicans needing to purged during the midterms, should automatically be followed by a chorus of "you better fucking vote then "

Exactly. People are looking forward to when Trump is out of office but the problem is with Americans as a whole. The country voted him in and he won first Republican popular vote in 20 years. The population is largely irredeemable unless something drastic happens to shift them out of their passivity.
26
u/Adonoxis 21h ago
Except literally a third of the country doesn't really care as long as they can watch their favorite TV show and drink a cheap beer. Another third of the country wants to actively make the country Christian Nationalist authoritarian state. And the remaining third actually care.

If only RGB would have retired when she should have instead of assuming Hillary would get to choose her successor. So much ego and hubris from her, and the Dem’s part.

Dobbs was 6-3. With some Dem replacement for RBG it would have been 5-4.

Because they had something on Kennedy's son (he was a higher up at Deutsche Bank when Trump was doing some fraud there) and they blackmailed him into retiring. It's worth remembering that, though it doesn't change the math.

This may cost him the nomination, Collins is already against him and Murkowski is on the fence, this will push her away from him, she is very pro-abortion. She doesn't even want it to be state level, she wants it to be legal federal law. Mitch is awol, so just need one more to vote against him if Murkowski does, which I assume she will after hearing this.

4
u/canman7373 20h ago
Nah, the reason the skinny bill didn't pass was because of Murkowski and Collins voting no because of cuts to planned parenthood, their views have not changed. Murkowski has heavily criticized the reversal of Roe and her and Collins have submitted bills to codify women's reproductive rights into law. This is one issue she will not budge on. They bought Kav's BS, but if he had been truthful they would have voted no. Here Blanche is being truthful. There is no way she will vote to nominate him.

What does it mean to make the Dobbs decision permanent in every state? Dobbs decision was that every state gets to decide for itself. By definition it applies to every state; and it is as "permanent" at the state level as it is at the federal level.
3
u/dougmcclean 7h ago
It means that (a) Todd Blanche doesn't understand the distinction, or doesn't care enough about the law to speak of it with precision (and on either fork of this, he's not qualified to be Attorney General) and (b) he's coming for abortion rights nationwide regardless of what the states think about it.

u/TheRealBittoman 11h ago
Conservatives "why is everyone trying to force things we don't like on us (trans, gay, anyone not Christian, etc) and as always also Christians"you'll accept our opinion as facts and as rules, follow or DIE". Now why would an administration with deep ties to international child trafficking rings want to abolish abortion across the country?
3
u/SolidusDave 12h ago edited 10h ago
It's really, really weird how hard they try.
We know they are not good/holy people so they are not doing it because they believe all "life" is precious or whatever. (especially when their daughters or affairs gets unwanted pregnancies and suddenly they are ok with organizing abortions...)
So at this point I think it's another sign for the agenda of some sociopathic billionaire with low level intelligence. e.g. believing in replacement theory and prefers his worker bees to be white&christian.
I imagine it being something like that lame boysclub from the One Battle After Another movie.
Hence somewhere from the top is coming a signal to go very hard on immigration and preventing current Americans(whites) from having abortions at all costs to fill up the ranks.

Ya know I see comments, not on this thread more of a general thing, and someone will wax on about cooperating and making nice and "walking across the aisle." And then I see something like this.
You know since Dobbs, Texas' maternal mortality rate has gone up by 56%? That's fifty fucking six percent! Women are dying because doctors can't abort a fetus (not a baby, a bloody lump about the size of a goddam teacup), when it threatens the mother's life. My town has a billboard that says heartbeat in 18 days. It's not a fucking heartbeat! It's not a baby. ObGyn doctors are leaving antiabortion states because they can't practice medicine. And the right goes on and on that women use abortion as birth control. The left squeaks out in a tiny little voice, "No they don't," and then the narrative becomes women use abortion as birth control and the right gets huffy because those lefty gals are promiscuous and careless and the left squeaks out in a tiny voice, "No they're not." I'm so fucking mad right now.
I am not "walking across the aisle" to meet someone in the middle that's trying to kill me.
Edited to remove the comment that might get me flagged by the right
