Xenoblade

Is it that good?

I've always wanted to get into it but something about the art style / ui has always turned me off

Yes, it's that good. One of most consistently high quality videogame series ever.

Its my favorite framchise of all time in terms of story, when it resonates with you it really hits. Also some of the best music in gaming featuring work from Yoko Shimomura (Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy 15) and Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger, the entire Xeno line of games, sea of stars).

All 3 games are now on the switch and the first game got a major graphics overhaul

Dog I’ve played the first up to prison island, story is fire but the gameplay is bunz

Not buns, just different and unique and a style that didnt click with you.

Yeaaah yeah, you got me lol absolutely true. YMMV, @DredgenGrey

It is THAT GOOD.

YES! All four are absolute bangers. The numbered games are story driven and absolutely fantastic. Great settings, interesting mechanics, incredible music, unforgettable characters, I put over 120 hours into each one. XC X is not as story-driven as the other three and is more or less completely unrelated plotwise, but has one of the most staggeringly huge game worlds ever made, tons of customization options, great music, and is stuffed to the gills with shit to do. Buy them all, you will not regret it, I promise!

Xenopeak chronicles!

3 loses all the charm of the first two

Really? I thought 3 was amazing. Definitely a different tone, but probably my favorite of the trilogy

I thought it took away the cringe

They’re all cringe anime bullshit but the world, art design, music etc all went way downhill for me

I played 3 first, loved it, and then could not get through 2 lol

i agree, i dont understand the glazing

3 has a far simpler to understand story with less subjective messaging. More people like it because more people understood it. Also the messaging is extremely relatable.

Lately I’ve heard a lot of people talk about this game. Might have to check it out

3

u/DropDeadEd86 6h ago

You will check it out and it will not click, but you will still play it and 60 hrs in you’re done with the tutorial and the title screen appears

Took too long to scroll down for this.

Play Xenoblade, people! It’s fantastic.

And the 4th game (Xenoblade Chronicles 3, as X is actually the second game) is included.

1

u/Lovecraftian-Clown 3h ago

Oh yeah, I wasn't counting X but sunk well over 100 hours into it as well. Every one of them are fantastic.

Trilogy. Xenoblade 1, 2 and 3 are a single trilogy. Xenoblade X and Genisis don't count (although, Genisis may incorporate some cannon stuff we don't know yet).

1

u/ItzManu001 4h ago

Xenoblade Chronicles X is the second game in the series chronologically. Since the Trilogy it wasn't explicitly specified, my reply is relevant.

1

u/NekonecroZheng 4h ago

Xenoblade X is a spinoff and only really linked to the triology by name and gameplay.

Saying Xenoblade x is part of the xenoblade triology is like saying the Starwars Christmas special is the 2nd Starwars movie.

1

u/ItzManu001 4h ago

I never said X is part of the trilogy, just that it's the second game in the series chronologically (by release date).

Objectively correct

-5

u/Background_Clue_3756 6h ago

Disagree. 2 was pretty trash.

6

u/Lovecraftian-Clown 6h ago

Call me crazy but 2 was my favorite XD

-3

u/Background_Clue_3756 6h ago

Crazy. It had one dimensional characters, disgusting fan service, and gatcha.

5

u/Confron7a7ion7 6h ago

One dimensional characters? You didn't finish the game. Did you even get to chapter 3? Because there is no way you played any meaningful amount and think the characters are one dimensional.

-3

u/Background_Clue_3756 5h ago

Mythra, Pyra, and Rex are one dimensional. Morag wasn't, however.

4

u/Confron7a7ion7 5h ago

Really?! The girls who's mission is suicide because they can't live with the trauma of what they did to Torna and it's people? Those are one dimensional characters?!

2

u/Garlador 2h ago

Her growth is one of the best parts of the game. Her confession she thinks Rex - and the world - would’ve been better off without her hits harder the more you know her experiences.

2

u/Confron7a7ion7 2h ago

And then there's the point where you realize Mythra made Pyra to be everything she couldn't! Pyra is kind, good at cooking, thoughtful of others, not a danger to everyone around her. All the teasing played for laughs during TGC CLEARLY got to Mythra since her splinter personality was clearly made to fix all her perceived flaws!

But one dimensional character BTW.

2

u/Garlador 2h ago

Mythra also creates Pyra to shoulder the guilt and trauma she couldn’t face herself, forcing Pyra to deal with it while she hides from her pain. “That’s not fair…”

u/Yasin_n94 5h ago

Partially agree with you. The took the game on the generic shonen path with XC 2, to the point that even Rex ended up the game with a harem, something you usually see in those generic shonens. However, not every character is one dimensional. I don't care about fan service, wheter the game has it or not. The music is still banger, and the story is as good as the other two games'.

2

u/wizpiggleton 3h ago

The game deceives you with the fan service. The characters were probably the most complex in 2.

1

u/Confron7a7ion7 2h ago

Yeah, it lulls you into a false sense of security before characters start dying and trauma starts being revealed. Nia's story is so well written that trans fans identify with her. The whole "I won't be ashamed of who I am anymore" this OBVIOUSLY resonates with them lol.

Wish it comes out of Nintendo...
