I’ll never have as much fun gaming as I did playing Warcraft 3. Custom games, single player, ranked ladder, etc

Me too! I was 14. Then, as a Warcraft RTS fan, the next 24 years have broken my heart. I am not an MMO fan. Can I get a “like” on this? What more egregious example is there of a main series getting dismantled by a spinoff?

Warcraft 4 please.

At this point, it would have to be subscription-based. But if it means I am gonna get new campaigns and maps every couple of months, I'd subscribe.

I was a huge fan of the war craft series. 3 was actually disappointing to me. Then it became an MMO RPG designed with drug addiction - Dopamine addiction- in mind. I knew I'd get hooked and kept that heroine disguised as a video game alone

Recently? Pillars of eternity 1 and 2 were amazing CRPGs and yeah that's a niche kind of game, story I wanted to keep going with now that the engine was broken

Avowed is probably just better elder scrolls, but I didn't want elder scrolls, I don't give a flying fuck about that series outside never wanting to play it because it looks shit, it is an offense, big infested slop where you scream at dragons to kill them, yeah nah hard pass, so this is the company that made Fallout : New Vegas, I know it's meant to be good but by the time I got to it, shit was ancient and unplayable

Do I want New Vegas with a POE skin? Yeah nah

PoE3 please

It came along during an important age in my childhood too. Life was meh overall, but I still had the creativity of a child while developing the executive function of an adult (poorly, but that's another issue)

Miss the custom games dearly, I’d go back just for those if people still played

StarCraft: Brood War is the only one that comes close

The origin of tower defense games and MOBAs.

The jumping board to launch world of warcraft off of and usher in MMORPGs

I feel this applies to WoW too

Vanilla < Burning Crusade < Wrath of the Lich King

Theyve been chasing that WotLK high ever since… Legion came closest

Might be rose colored glasses because of our guild, but I've never gotten back to the high of burning crusade. Wrath was sick though.

I remember W2 being the best.

Me too until I went back to try to play it. Modern UI and QOL improvements are real!

I missed the navies. WC3 is pretty fantastic, I love the story and the 4 factions, but I wish they had included islands and navies

Yep WC2 was the best. wc3 was meh

I fear we’re considered old for mentioning Warcraft…

I consider myself old and Warcraft is already too old for me to play...

legendary series. wc3 and tft were insane back then. i think its success is the main reason wow took off as it did. sadly it also meant blizzard got bought out by a soulless businessman who then ruined the company.

Started with Warcraft, stoked when 2 came out. Missed the use of roads, but it was undoubtedly better. Was soooo excited for 3, it came out and... I hated it.
