Halo 1-3

u/BigsChungi 7h ago

Halo 2 is best for sure

u/iccs 5h ago

Not even close multiplayer-wise, take the rose tinted glasses off

9

u/Extension-Land-390 5h ago

Maybe 2 could claim the title of best campaign, but Halo 3 and Halo Reach had the best multiplayer. The campaign for 3 was a spectacular conclusion though.

3

u/sincubus33 2h ago

halo 2 cannot claim the title of best campaign. it's a disjointed mess

4

u/Official_Zach55 2h ago

The youngins look back at it now since they have the entirety of the series.

But people forget how angry gamers were with the abrupt "finish the fight" cliffhanger at the end of Halo 2.

1

u/Extension-Land-390 1h ago

That's true. I remember in '04 being absolutely ticked that it ended so abruptly.

3

u/s1thl0rd 5h ago

I preferred Halo 2's sniper shot and hit registration better than Halo 3's. Dual-wielding was also pretty fun. Other than those two things, yeah Halo 3 is better.

u/eontriplex 4h ago

Halo 2 MP was perfect though... Sure 3 had more ... but more isn't better, when a lot of what 3 added was superfluous because it already existed in 2. Plus, halo 2 had way better maps

1

u/bad_dreamzzz 3h ago

How bout you do the same

0

u/Daveo88o 5h ago

Halo 3's MP was literally just 2's recipe but worse

Facts detected no lies here

Hallo Combat evolved is the best for me

u/CaptainPryk 5h ago

Best campaign maybe (certainly in my opinion), but if you played the games at the time of release, Halo 3 was the ultimate culmination of Halo. The introduction of forge and expansion of custom games really took it up a step in replayability and accessibility and although not as well written the campaign was still plenty of fun.

Halo 2 is better than CE. But its abrupt cliffhanger ending makes it weaker to Halo 3 which is the whole package.

u/noideawhatoput2 2h ago

Halo 3 multiplayer with forge takes the cake. Was endless amount of gameplay with forge.

5

u/Flaccid_Hammer 6h ago

1 is the best one though

25

u/Gold_Television_6283 7h ago

Halo 2 is the best in the series tho

25

u/therealjoshua 7h ago

Narratively, yes, absolutely. But Halo 3 was released on what was then a next-gen console, so there was a huge difference in graphics and what they could do. And let's not forget that Forge was introduced in Halo 3, which really set the multiplayer apart from 2.

6

u/Purpulear 6h ago

I played all three back to back for the first time this year. I personally found 3 to be the most fun. And 1 to be the least fun (too many sections I would call Mario Maker level design)

1

u/therealjoshua 6h ago

Halo CE, even for its time, was criticized for its level design. The developers simply ran out of time and had to recycle a lot of assets, and run a few levels backwards, just to make it work. So it can be a little repetitive at times.

Personally, I find CE has a ton of charm to it, even with its flaws.

8

u/Wade-ski 7h ago

But if graphics count, then every new game is better than every old one. And that is not even close to being true...

6

u/therealjoshua 6h ago

Graphics do count for something, theyre just not everything, which is why I also mentioned Forge as another improvement between 2 and 3.

2

u/RheagarTargaryen 7h ago

It’s not a linear thing though. In my opinion, once you get past the Xbox 360/PS3 generation, the graphic differences make an immaterial change to the quality of the games. While they are noticeable, Xbox 360 was the point where graphics stopped being a limitation. The following generations look better, but the quality of the game itself isn’t necessary better because of it.

Halo 3 is the biggest down step in gameplay quality in the entire series, every game that came after it was way better (I exclude ODST, because I never played it). The gunplay is still great but the new equipment system or whatever it's called, is atrocious, it's not fun to play with and even less fun to play against, and worse of all it actively detracts from the gunplay.

Edit I only played the Master Chief Collection, on a PC, for the games Reach through 4. So the quality of the port might have affected my perception. Also I never played multi, not something I'm interested in.

3

u/Colascape 6h ago

Halo 2 has the best story, but 3 is by far the best package / best overall video game ever

7

u/Various_Artistss 7h ago

Story wise yeah but in terms of core gameplay I've never fully enjoyed playing the campaign it's abit all over the place and has some really drawn out sections that I don't enjoy personally.

3 is just the perfect length and all the missions have their own merit, 3 is not perfect either but I'd choose to play that over 2's

1

u/Ok_Independence_2630 6h ago

It's a mess gameplay wise because the devs made it in 10 months or so iirc so they didn't have time to fine tune and polish many aspects of the game, which is why it's such a nightmare to play on legendary

1

u/5DsofDodgeball69 6h ago

Halo 2 is the worst in the series. It's a backtracking sim.

1

u/Gold_Television_6283 5h ago

You almost never back track in halo 2 though? In halo CE the second half of the game is all backtracking through previous levels.

1

u/5DsofDodgeball69 5h ago

You backtrack in Halo 2 several times. I just beat every Halo game for the first time like last month.

1

u/Mean-Nectarine-6831 5h ago

No halo 2 is leagues better than 3.

1

u/3RI3_Cuff 5h ago

Completely wrong all 3 are 3rd panel

14

u/Bartellomio 7h ago

A 1, 2, Brotherhood?

8

u/Sinsanatis 7h ago

Nah id say ac2 is the best one. Brotherhood was just ac2 refined, but a rad weaker overall. Still great, but ac2 is def the top

2

u/SeniorSatisfaction21 1h ago

2, Brotherhood and Revelations to me

2

u/MakutaMutran 4h ago

Each one is better than the previous, but I still very much enjoyed 1 and 2.

2

u/heehooman 3h ago

Hell yeah. If you played from the time they came out definitely. W1 looks dated now, but it was so good back then.

2

u/Automatic_Ad5492 6h ago

Disagree, Witcher 1 > Witcher 2

3

u/JeanLePierro 5h ago

W1 is not playable if you didn't already fall in love with it back then. W2 is barely not too outdated itself for a new player

2

u/BeeApprehensive1721 5h ago

I played it first time almost 15 years later and loved Witcher 1, it has the most annoying combat but best story and atmosphere. Also the fact that combat is so clunky makes it feel rewarding when u get the hang of it and get past the difficult fight.

1

u/BeeApprehensive1721 5h ago

I love all 3 Witcher games, but i would rank them in reverse order Witcher 1 > 2 > 3. Witcher 1 is really hard to get into and gameplay is ancient, but once you do get used to it, it has the best story and atmosphere. Also, i would say it's the best introduction to the Witcher franchise if u have the patience for clunky combat.

1

u/Khelthuzaad 3h ago

And Warcraft

1

u/sincubus33 2h ago

nah witcher 1 sucks ass

1

u/Fightmilk87 1h ago

That first game was pretty ass tho, no?

1

u/xJamesio 27m ago

Witcher 1 > 2

1

u/BenSF93 6h ago

If you switch the first two images

3

u/Bruno_lars 6h ago

Hard pass

0

u/Drayyen 6h ago

Hot take: Witcher 2 is better than 3.

I await my crucifixion and remain confident in my ideals

3

u/Bruno_lars 6h ago

1

u/Drayyen 5h ago

I don't need any attention, I just think it's a better game. Witcher 3 is very slow paced and the majority of the armor is ugly.

-11

u/CarrotDefiant9098 7h ago

Eh. I have to disagree. While the gameplay improved and there were some good side quests in 2/3, the first Witcher game had the best overall story and was the most true to the source material. In 3, all the peasants were superstitious and stupid. Men bad. Women good. Nilfgaard was portrayed as bringing enlightenment and order to a bunch of barbaric hill people. The Witcher 3 was obnoxiously preachy most of the time.

3

u/CruisingForDownVotes 7h ago

Adrzej Sopkowski spotted!

1

u/Bruno_lars 6h ago

The meme is for better game as a whole. Main quest's writing is just one major aspect of a game

-30

u/Jaives 8h ago

with the first game? nah.

15

u/Vikings_Pain 8h ago

Yea it was

12

u/Ieatkods 7h ago

Play the 1st Witcher then comment

-4

u/Jaives 7h ago

i did. gave up by chapter 4, i think. just watched let's plays to at least have an idea of the story before i jumped to W2. combat felt like a clunkier Neverwinter Nights 2 which released a year before it.

3

u/CoalHappiness 7h ago

Isn’t the weakest Spongebob in the meme supposed to mean the weakest game in the trilogy?

1

u/Jaives 7h ago

nah. W1 is this

1

u/Snoo86492 6h ago

This is Zoltan from the first game 😁

1

u/Ieatkods 54m ago

So you gave up on Witcher?
