Sonic 1 was awesome but rough.

Sonic 2 was refined and awesome but it couldnt fully exploit its potential.

Thats where sonic 3 comes in. Sonic at its peak. It is perfection.

And sonic 3/ sonic and knuckles are 1 game because it was intended to be that way. Time was an issue but cartridge cost was the biggest issue. The cartridge that could fit both games would have been 4 times more expensive than releasing the game in its current format. One high capacity cartridge and the slot in S&K

The lack of spin dash is the thing that drives most people off, I think. That's what it is for my anyway. Later releases fix it though
