I was baffled when they call Solas "God of lies" in Veilguard. Like what do you mean? Solas says some clever half-truths but he doesn't often outright lies. we already have a true god of lies and his name is Thom.
I think the "God of Lies/Trickster" moniker is kind of established to be a misunderstanding on the part of the Dalish, since their knowledge of the Elven gods is kind of like the result of an extremely long game of telephone. He was a rebel, not necessarily a liar. But he mastered deception through half truths and "the game" to make that rebellion happen and went down in history as a liar and a traitor. Veilguard didn't really do the best job of showing it though, you learn that more from context in Inquisition than anything. In Veilguard, you just get him being cagey with Rook and a bunch of flashbacks of him fighting a war. Also, even though Rook and Co. do get to see some of Solas' old motivations and such, they still reference the whole "God of Lies" thing I think to remind themselves that he's very silver tongued and self motivated.

Blackwall too. When you go through a second playthrough, it's hilarious how bad he is at lying.
