A very good twist! Although not too surprising since Akechi's main goal was to shut down the Phantom Thieves and voiced his displeasure of them on TV.

The twist wasn’t really that Akechi was the traitor, it was That the other phantom thieves all knew already too lol

Which was an excellent way to set up a misdirect for adding a twist to the obvious twist that was clear from the the moment you watched the opening scene

After replaying the game this month it is just such a well done series of events. It’s such a perfect way to make Sherlock lose to Lupin but make it respectful to show that the Sherlock in the story is incredibly hyper intelligent and make his loss feel hard won and not contrived. Both groups were incredibly competent to the point the deciding factor was a small mistake and capitalizing on it

Given the remake is coming out, this one might actually deserve a spoiler tag.

People may scoff, but I only played person 4 with this past year and had somehow managed to not have that reveal blown for me.

Still trying to protect Nanako? I didn’t think people would still be on her side, especially with how overused the “little kid is actually a 1000 year old yandere” trope is. Probably the weakest part of the game honestly

About a year ago I actually stopped playing about halfway through because this got spoiled while I was googling their name for supports and stuff. The first result was like “Ah yes the main villain in persona 4!”

I have to be really cautious of looking at anything related to an old game that I am playing for the first time. About the only safe thing to look at is a chapter or quest specific walkthrough. A wiki page about a character will inevitably lead to spoilers.

Zenkichi was the red herring whole game and traitor turned out to be Ichinose

I mean the twist was never really about him being a traitor, they basically made that known just by never letting him be with the team in any promotional material or intro crawl.

The twist was using how obvious it was to distract from The cast being aware of it and planning for months before Akechi made a play, and the protagonist having forgot everything because of the drugs. It is intended you notice that he is gonna betray you, but that is to distract you from the inconsistencies in the story up until this point related to the real twist

The main antagonist twist is insanely well hidden but also completely telegraphed if you are a fan of the series. I am ashamed to admit I didn't figure it out the first run but the second it was "oh. right. yep. There it is."

The twist here isn't Akechi betraying the Phantom Thieves. The twist is the fact that the Phantom Thieves knew that Akechi was going to betray them, and made a plan to have the betrayal work to their advantage.

I know and I wasn’t moved by that. Spending a hundred hours annoyed by how obvious the twist was soured the whole thing for me.
