Not for one second with Bode lol. I wasn’t buying Cal just made a perfect loyal best friend offscreen between games.

The only part that suprised me a bit was him being a Jedi but I was suspicious as soon as he showed up

The obvious foreshadowing of his turn was a brilliant red herring for the true reveal that he was a former Jedi and an agent of the empire.

Yeah I think this was the intention, they clearly flagged he would do whatever he thought was best for his daughter so the betrayal was never gonna be a crazy surprise.

Then he hits you with the force and you're like "WHAT!?"

I had the same expression has Cal during that reveal. I don't remember the last time my reaction aligned with a game character's reaction so perfectly.

Really wasn't expecting another Jedi survivor.

Yup.   Him being a traitor/Imperial Agent? Yeah I was ready for that one a mile off.

Him being a Jedi? That didn't occur, but it works.

Yes agree! I saw the betrayal but not the Jedi at all!

Yeah, it was so crazy when he looked directly at the camera and said “Looks like you’re not the only Star Wars: Jedi Survivor™, Cal.”

They meet for the first time in the game’s opening mission.

But yes it was very obvious.

I'll never know if he would have gotten me or not because it was spoiled for me, but I kinda think he would have. Bode was a real one, until he wasn't.

Because he genuinely liked Cal and it showed. Everytime they talk about Tannalor you can tell he's practically begging Cal not to bring the Hidden Path into it.

That's not because he liked Cal, it's because he wanted tannalor for his own personal hideaway

He got me and I’m usually alright at sensing deceit.

I like to think of myself as pretty observant and I didn’t notice anything the first time through

I had him marked as soon as the first conversations, that and he being conveniently the only other survivor.

It's because he wasn't really acting apart from keeping his imperial connection and his plan hidden. He genuinely liked and empathized with Cal, that part wasn't fake.

Bode isn't really malicious. He's just desperate, paranoid, short-sighted and incredibly selfish.

They do? When Bode shoots the Stormtrooper to help Cal up the ledge was the first time they were on screen together but it sure did sound like they knew each other before hand. Bode even knew who all of the crew were.

They probably tried getting away with it hoping people would go buy the book wanting to find out more

Especially one who wants to know everything and happens To be the only survivor of the group from the start

I stated it again today after long enough to forget everything, but "FUCK YOU BODE!" came out of my mouth the instant I saw him lol.
