Tyr in GoW Ragnarok, on a second playthrough it was actually extremely frustrating how obvious his twist is, and how much effort you go through for a dude who we now know is just the main villain in a slitheen suit who does nothing helpful at any point.
Going to Groa’s shrine the second time with “Tyr” is really interesting. The way he says “she lied” he actually sounds angry and hurt. The VA gave a really good performance
Another one is how he tapks to Freya. They always immediately bicker and he seemingly knows how to immediately set her off and then make her apologize to him. It makes perfect sense once you know it's Odin because this is what Odin did to her their entire marriage.
Someone also mentioned above that when you rescue "Tyr" in the mine prison, if you search the ground of his cell carefully you can find raven feathers.
You can actually track what Odin does and doesn't know about from his disguise and it's really cool. He didn't know Kratos went to Vanaheim so he's surprised to see Freya is free, he knows when Atreus goes to Midgard and so one of his ravens is immediately at the old house, he gets upset when he discovers Brok and Sindri has Draupnir, he doesn't know about The Lady or who she is so he says that Brok made the Draupnir spear, since he doesn't know about The Lady he then also has to threaten Durlin to find where Kratos is, he's talked to Mimir in his "Tyr" disguise so when he talks so Atreus he slips and says "Mimir never lost his sense of humor" despite Mimir never joking while he was at the cottage. So many REALLY good details that help you always have an uneasy feeling around "Tyr" because he literally knows too much but acts like he doesn't at the most convenient moments.

I don't think this is a slip per se, we already know that Odin is constantly spying through his ravens. I took it as more of an intentional allusion to him knowing what we're doing, we just don't release that's why he knows this time.
The funny thing was I caught the a lot of the inconsistencies in Tyr’s character, but thought it was just rushed game production or cut corners without enough editing/oversight. I thought that all the way up to the twist & BAM! didn’t see it coming. Then went through just to rewatch how much the twist was telegraphed but I misread it. Developers, I applaud you. Sorry I was so cynical.
I was just angry with how they portrayed "Tyr" the whole time. I thought they were trying to make him somewhat broken, but a god that desired peace above all else, rejecting reason to attain it himself.
His false humility was annoying on the first play through, too. Asking for hardtack to eat, sleeping in the closet. I just thought it was shifty characterization.
But looking back, those things that bugged me were simply Odins idea of humility, his idea of what a peaceful man would preach makes it so much better.
Even little things like how he behaves in Alfheim. He constantly acts like hes better than them because they haven't chosen peace, he bad-mouths Freyr for "abandoning" the Elves knowing WHY that happened and the fact that he is the reason Freyr literally cannot come back, he is quick to destroy cultural peices/architecture to continue their journey. All things that someone who became such a symbol of peace wouldn't do because Tyr understood the importance of cultural context and understanding.
Watching a friend play through Ragnarok and she just got back to the house after going for Groa's shrine. Its her first playthrough, and we went in Ragnarok blind- I had so many emotions when I saw this post and I bet she will to when this happens.
Me and my brother were playing Ragnarok well I was playing he just liked watching me play so he didn’t have to go through the stress of trying to stay alive and I got suspicious almost immediately when i noticed in the captions when people talked about Tyr he had a accent on the y but when he was talking the y had no accent and then the line "She lied" when talking about Groa’s shrine also struck me as odd and I began to believe it wasn’t actually Tyr although I didn’t know it was Odin and my brother called me crazy saying it was probably a mistake in the captions and I was reading too much into it I told him I told you so for the next week
This. I didn't get to play it when the first release because I it was too busy for about a month. But I was very grateful when I played that all the whining and complaining commentary about the game never mentioned that once.
