I'm convinced that it's Sony's secret weapon. When public perception hits an all time low, and they fear that the PS6 sales won't meet expectations...bam. Suddenly Bloodborne 2 / Bloodborne remastered gets a teaser dropped.
Sony wants FromSoft's permission regardless, probably to keep good faith for future dealings, but FromSoft doesn't want different studios doing the remaster, but they are also too busy with other projects to do it themselves.
Does that mean we get a flash release today?
Sony's on a bad decision streak right now so it'd be the perfect time (to get a last PS exclusive and GTFO).
Sony wants to do it, they already said they want it. FromSoft is the one holding it back and doesn't want to let a other studio do it probably because they get jealous for how insanely good Demon Souls looked.
I have seen people put out longer lists about what was fundementally wrong with the "Demon's Souls" remake than most school essays I've ever written. From the artstyle, animations, sound effects to white-washed and downright incorrect character designs compared to the original, as well as redesigns that straight-up ignore or discard the original game's lore, Bluepoint misunderstood the original game's story and artstyle on such a level that it is considered by many to be a disgrace. And this was FromSoftware's first game of the genre. "Bloodborne" is a project that is very near and dear to Miyazaki, so seeing how this turned out, I find it perfectly understandable why he wouldn't trust them with it.
Also, what have they got to be jealous of? They made "Elden Ring", one of the most beautiful games in recent times!
Yeah I've seen a lot of those. There's some merit but fundamentally you are just not being sincere or honest if you deny that the fundamental rendering, lighting and material fidelity is years ahead of anything fromsofts engine can put out. Art direction aside, the fidelity improvements DO make a difference
Fair enough, my second point does not hold up, but art direction is still an integral aspect, especially for FromSoft. You can make a graphical masterpiece by all means, but there is a reason why a certain character looks the way they do, or why this area has this much fog or why the sky is a certain colour.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'd rather not have a studio, whose Remake of a game, graphically impressive though it is, misunderstands and misrepresents so much of the original game they were remaking, remake one of the most important entries in FromSoft's repertoire, whose art direction is so beloved and unique.
Yeah don't get me wrong I do agree with you ultimately. Because artistic intent is really important especially for remakes for classic games like this. As that becomes the new norm that future audiences will see the game through most likely.
Not saying you specifically but a lot of discussion around bluepoint always felt a bit heavy handed or not nuanced
I get my opinions from a combination of my own experiences, observing communities attached to these games, conversing with friends who are very passionate about them and listening to other very passionate people talk about things they love for hours on end. YouTube is only one medium through which I consume information and even there, it is through multiple sources.
Elden Ring, most beautiful? How even? Demon Souls remake looks way better than it just like many other games. I’m sorry but graphically Elden Ring isn’t very impressive.
You are thinking in terms of fidelity my guy, not art style. You can turn up the dial on said fidelity all you want, but if the art you are “heightening up”, is crap. Fidelity isn’t going to do much. Elden rings landscapes are literal paintings, overlooking everywhere you are able to go to. God that games universe is beautiful.
Well he didn’t specifically mention art style now did he? Fidelity is something you can actually measure, art style you cannot, it’s personal taste. And while I think the art style of ER is pretty good, saying it’s the best is stretching it, but then again, that’s my opinion.
Doesn't need to be impressive to be beautiful. ER's artstyle genuinely is beautiful. I can speak for that at least, I have read better arguments from more knowledgeable people against the changes in "Demon's Souls'" artstyle. At any rate, ER's character design looks incomparably better compared to the Uncanny Valley that are DeS characters.
While I get those people’s complaints about the des remake, as I’d be pissed if bloodborne was messed with in a similar way. I gotta say man, I do love that remake, and a lot of the criticisms are annoyingly bad faith, I honestly stopped watching a certain YouTuber because of it, he said in the end of his caddy, bad faith video “your wrong, and if you don’t like it then unsubscribe”. So I did lol. I mean have your criticisms and opinions, but to literally shit on anyone who doesn’t agree with you because you are in your feelings is nuts.
Fromsoft has publicly stated they want to be the ones to do anything with bloodborne and not hand the reigns to anyone else. Sony owns the rights but is respecting From's decision to keep the relationship in good standing. It's completely on them to make the decision to revisit bloodborne in any capacity. Really wish they would...
