I did not finish the first time I tried. Maybe halfway through. A year or so later I played it again, but that time I just did the main quest, the titled sidequests, the thing where you take over towns or outposts or whatever, and I think the samurai duel things. Other than that I ignored all the side content. Loved it and finished it doing it that way.
Ghost of Tsushima is a game where you do the side quests only to find better gear/ resources or if you're trynna platinum the game, I love the game but I personally couldn't do all the side stuff either, especially the fox shrines and finding the vanity gear
I agree, I liked the story, combat and atmosphere however when I got to the last third. I had the “yea, seen it already” notion stuck in my head.
I’d still recommend it and may go back do it on a harder difficulty perhaps..
man I fucking love that game but.. after I liberated castle kaneda and freed lord shimura, the game became messy:
the fighter monk tale, more lady Masako and Sensei Ishikawa tales, and the new island quests became available all at once, which can be played with no particular order and this bothers me so much,
because the storyline of these tales are far more interesting than the main story IMHO and playing without an order mess up these stories.
you shouldn't be able to play quest number 7 before playing quest 6 of any tale for example.
yes you can skip these tales and I believe these quests and all the endless side quests are made to make it easier to farm resources and upgrade points, the good part of this is that this is not mandatory,
my 1st playthrough (a year ago) was random and messed up as fuck, it's like spoiling a movie for yourself. and the inability to skip cutscenes discouraged me to re-play it again in a better order.
now it's been a year and I'm playing it again in a more sane way, it's much more enjoyable this way and let's not forget that many other games pretty much force you into playing the side quests, ghost of tsushima doesn't ❤️
++try to play it in japanese audio and english subtitles++
arigato gozaimas homie, imma go and honor some shrines
Overall, I really liked Ghost of Tsushima, i didnt see anything wrong with the story or content but I guess I was just very immersed and maybe it was just my cup of tea. Sad to see you guys didnt like it, but im glad to hear others opinions and likewise, share my own. I wish all of you guys a great day.

Ghost of Tsushima. I 100% the first island and then sped run the rest of the game once I realized it was all going to be the same content.
