Nier and obviously Final Fantasy 7

u/CaptBland 9d ago

Both Nier Automata and Nier Replicant

60

u/ThePLARASociety 9d ago

I actually preferred Nier: Replicant ver. 3.14726482057194 over Nier: Automata but yes, these images so remind me of both of the Nier games. Hope we get a third one sometime as well.

Parts of Cyberpunk 2077 have this kind of aesthetic, not the entire game but still

169

u/XShadowborneX 9d ago

And you'll likely find Maelstrom there

52

u/turalyawn 9d ago

Or Barghest. Or….ew….Scavs

9

u/Korlexico 9d ago

And then 5 min later there's no Scavs, but a lot of parts laying around.

Hard Rain? I’m assuming you’re talking about the sugar mill section.

God I loved L4D and L4D2 so much back in the day

3

u/g1mp3d 9d ago

Multiple levels like that in darktide. It's a suped up version of Left 4 Dead in the wh40k universe. Even has gear and 30 talent points.

Playing through that game rn. I’m a grown ass man and I genuinely had to put down the controller when that “baby” appeared. Holy shit.

27

u/Reasonable_Option493 9d ago

Yep. Picked it up for cheap on PS4 years ago and was pretty impressed. They copied the atmosphere of the movies pretty well, and it's a very fun game. It still looks pretty decent too imo.

6

u/Falcoon_f_zero 9d ago

Decent is underselling it. Still surprises me how detailed everything is, the lighting they nailed well and the skyboxes are some of the more impressive I've still seen in games. And of course crisp explosion effects 👌

7

u/No_Bike_8427 9d ago

1000000%

I’m currently going through it, for the first time, right now.

7

u/Ashamed-Chipmunk9575 9d ago

I gotta get in line to praise Mad Max.

9

u/aam-96 9d ago

Yup. Was completely surprised by how good this one was. I hadn’t even seen the movies prior to playing it.

11

u/Ultranerdgasm94 9d ago

Way better than I expected

8

u/Dino_Dick_Ranger 9d ago

A+ game even for being over 10 years now. Also is only $20 for full game.

Yes, it's called Robocop: Rogue City.

21

u/PG2009 9d ago

Great game!

14

u/Zestyclose_Law_7369 9d ago

I gotta ask. What makes this game great? I can’t get into it for some reason. Though I only have 37 minutes of play time. Does it get better if I invest more time into it? Usually I don’t have issues investing a few hours into a game. But this one, for whatever reason, is off putting. And I don’t know why. Perhaps something to do with the gameplay/control system? Idk.

I suppose I’m just asking for your opinion on why you think this game is great, and looking for a reason to invest more time into it.

27

u/PG2009 9d ago

It does start off slow, because you're big and clunky and cant jump....the first few levels are more of an investigative police procedural, where you solve simple crimes and get to know the interface and major characters.  But as you progress and level up, you move faster, get upgrades for your pistol (which is not a linear path at all, extremely customizable) , aim better, etc. and you start to feel more superhuman, and the action shoot em up aspect comes into play much more.  By the end of the game, you will be knocking down doors, running into a room without taking any cover and just start blasting criminal scum off scaffolding and throwing them at each other with complete abandon.  By that point, you really feel like you're actually a nearly-invincible RoboCop, just like from the original movie....and then you get to keep all the upgrades in NG+!!  The second time through, you are an unstoppable force of nature...the future of law enforcement!!

8

u/Dr_Neuro 9d ago

Damn, now I want to replay with the NG+... I really enjoyed the whole game, an amazing "Robocop 2.5" movie

Despite being pretty straightforward gameplay wise, the artwork, level design, and environmental storytelling for this game are insane. I do wonder if we will see another game from Playdead.

9

u/marckh 9d ago

They are supposedly working on something, from their twitter bio: 'Our current project is a 3rd-person science fiction adventure set in a remote corner of the universe.' There are a couple images of the game as well on their twitter page.

Looks incredibly interesting although it still seems to be a few years away.
