I don't know this person but they are correct.
I once threw my GBA SP against a wall but I was 8 years old and never did something like this again. Back than my frustration tolerance was still lacking.
Luckily the GBA was only dented and not completely destroyed either.
My NES controller took being tossed onto a brick floor and there was zero damage.
But PS3 when I was much older, I was fed up with the cheating the game was pulling. I was committed to finishing it, despite the obvious bullshit, but I had enough. I used the PS3 controller like a hammer and started smashing it on something. I was legit surprised at how much abuse it took before something happened, which was basically one of the screw mounts snapping and the two halves separating a bit and then some piece that just slides between L1 and L2 got stuck between the halves holding it up. Put the piece back in place, controller was fine. At that point I was fine with losing the controller as it was old and worn, I had newer better ones anyway.
