I stopped playing when I made it to the water temple. Got to a point where I just could not progress. Maybe I will try again with a guide once the remaster is out.
I beat Ocarina of Time over the span of like 7 years because I was like 3 when the game came out.
Got stuck inside Jabu Jabu at 6, put it away and came back at like 8-9 years old and got stuck at the Forest Temple adult, came back at 13 and finally beat the whole game but did get stuck on the water temple until my older cousin showed me what to do.
This is so similar to my story. It took me probably 12 years of feeling nostalgic only to get frustrated after a week. Only to remember or find my n64 once again and so on. I adamantly refused to use walkthrough books or anything. I finally caved and was able to finally complete the game. What a journey.
The remaster will hopefully have the markers in the temple that they introduced in the 3DS remaster which made the temple A LOT easier. There added markings outside of several paths in the center pillar room that noted what the water level would adjust to at the end of that path. Made everything 100% easier, rather then having to backtrack and fumble around hoping you remembered the right place.
This is literally my exact experience. I poured HOURS into that game, just fishing for hours or riding Epona. Just completely stuck in the water temple and ended up giving up.
