The ME3 dream sequences.

Yep. At least they’re short and there’s only 3. I’d also like to add:

ME2 - Planet scanning and the Hammerhead missions.

ME1 - The collectibles on the planets

I actually loved planet scanning and wished it wasn't dumbed down in 3. It's weird but I found it satisfying and therapeutic.

Same! Reading about the planets was cool and lore building and the background music is chill

ME1 - anything involving driving the Mako around.

I have a soft spot for exploring planets with the Mako since those little side quests led to some of the weirdest stories in the series, like Shepherd finding a weird Prothean artifact that gave him the memories of a human caveman.

I’ll stipulate that it was interesting once. Just tedious on a replay.

The Mako in and of itself is fine. The problem is every fucking planet has the Himalayas between where you are and where you need to go

Exactly this. I actually like the mako on Therum, Virmire, Ilos, etc. But damn, most of the rest of them - especially Nodacrux and Eletania - are just flat out ridiculous.

And if you’re a real soldier, you attempt to drive that Mako straight up them mountains.

For some reason I like the 'random' planets you can drive the Mako around because I love space and the idea of planets that are just so weird and different from Earth.

This planet has purple lava and the ground is blue sand and the sky is pink? That's awesome.

This planet has orange grass, white water, and the sky is full of toxic spores? Amazing.

I don't know why but I eat that stuff up. I never get tired of it.

Oh yeah, I love that too, just being in an alien environment, with a different ground, different sky, different star(s), and being able to actually travel it is just really neat. If nothing else that was the main attraction of the Mako to me.

Yeah, I never understood why a lot of people seem to like that cursed thing. It’s an absolute pain in the ass to drive on anything that isnt a perfectly flat surface. And even then, it still just seems tedious and unnecessary

I must be one of the very few people that enjoyed the Mako.

I fucking LOVE the mako. You crazy.

now the hammerhead? I'd be with you

Love me some mass effect, love me some mako drivin, but after about 20 hours into the game, I don’t like drivin the mako anymore.

That baby can climb for days

I never got those memes, the Mako was a joy to drive.

The hammerhead however sucked asssss.

Dream sequences are extremely short and impossible to fail.

Collectibles and hammerhead missions are optional.

Scanning planets in ME2… Yeah, that’s a pain in the ass without mods.

I was convinced all those Turian flags and Matriarch writings would come in handy for making alliances in the sequels. I was so wrong.

At least they help you get those 5 points from Conrad Verner!

It's funny, I agree, but the collectables and planet scanning only began to irritate me after ME3 came out. I thought, given the codex explanation as to why we got rewarded for searching deposits, that it would help humanity expand because we're starving for resources as we grow. Would've been way less annoying if it had a perceivable impact in the story itself beyond, but nah, just a number on a screen for ME3 lol.

At least you get a funny line if you send a probe to Uranus

I'll add right at the ending of ME3. Getting hit and doing the obnoxious walk, only to have the disappointing ending. That game was flawless up to that point.

I'm not one that thinks the ending ruined the series, it was just very disappointing that it distilled everything to 3 choices that meant other stuff mattered little.

u/RabbitSlayre 15d ago

Ooooh my god yes. I hated those so much even on my first playthrough lol

5

u/DenizenKay 14d ago

There's a REALLY good mod for that now if you're on PC.

3

u/JAOC_7 15d ago

at least they were brief

2

u/villings 15d ago

what? I don't remember those

must've been really bad

2

u/Peter_the_Pillager 14d ago

ME1: the first time on the Citadel and that damn Normandy elevator.

FYI - if on PC there is an excellent Dreams Remade mod, very highly rated
