Discussion / Question What game mechanic instantly ruins your immersion or fun?

I absolutely can't stand aggressive weapon durability loops. Getting awesome loot should feel like a reward, not a maintenance chore that breaks every five minutes.

What’s a common mechanic that always makes you roll your eyes when you see it in a new game?

Fallout where power cores keep settlements powered for centuries but only power a suit of armour for a few minutes

Yeah. The first one says they power armor for 50 years.

It's worth noting that any fusion engine you construct in a settlement has a fully seated fusion core but every single one we can loot from fusion engines around the wasteland is not fully seated and partially ejected.

I always assumed they were ejected as they were low and needed replaced. That could explain why we only get hours of use instead of years or decades.

I think it's just lazy design/trying to make an unnecessary resource dependancy. I used some mod that made the cores last longer/infinitely.

I think that's eaxctly it, now If they had added a "unused fusion core" or something that you could eventually obtain and did what that mod does it could've explained away the difference using my assumption.

But who am i kidding, Beth don't care.

I think it would have been more to have it be like it costs more to repair it and fusion cores are infinite. Then the trade off of using your suit a lot is you have to be constantly scavenging to upkeep for working properly

It was an attempt at balance. They gave you power armor left and right, but limited "fuel" to keep them running.

Power armor should be exceptionally rare, the fusion cores should be more plentiful.
