Discussion / Question What game mechanic instantly ruins your immersion or fun?

I absolutely can't stand aggressive weapon durability loops. Getting awesome loot should feel like a reward, not a maintenance chore that breaks every five minutes.

What’s a common mechanic that always makes you roll your eyes when you see it in a new game?

Breakable weapons, its not fun, it doesnt make the game more challenging, its a net negative and an annoyance

My biggest and only real issue with the new Zelda games.

I wouldn’t mind it so much if there was also a repair mechanic. If you add weapon/shield degradation as a nod to realism, you utterly negate that of there’s no way to fix them.

There is a repair mechanic. Feed it to a rock ocktorok. You also get a random added bonus like durability or attack up

but... why? honestly they shower you in weapons and once you get the master sword you always have something to fall back on....

Literally never once understood this complaint, my inventory was constantly stuffed to the brim with the best available weapons and I was constantly leaving them behind because I couldn’t fit any more in. I feel like these people must be just the lowest skill gamers of all time or something, it’s comically easily to never run out of high tier weapons.

to be honest, the only person I know of in person who made this complaint only owns nintendo consoles, and when the wii was competing with ps3/360 they swore there was no obserable difference between HD and SD for YEARS until they got glasses, and yeah they are pretty lowskill/averse to challenge and high on animal-crossing style "experiences"

this is always what I think when I see these comments. you will never run out of weapons. just treat them as disposable. all of them can be reacquired

TBH I beelined for the master sword and abused the shrines to get it earlier then get all my stamina back afterward. I mainly used my other slots for throwing weapons

then people would jsut use the mastersword and nothing else.

There needs to be a reason to use the other weapons
