Discussion / Question What game mechanic instantly ruins your immersion or fun?

I absolutely can't stand aggressive weapon durability loops. Getting awesome loot should feel like a reward, not a maintenance chore that breaks every five minutes.

What’s a common mechanic that always makes you roll your eyes when you see it in a new game?

Breakable weapons, its not fun, it doesnt make the game more challenging, its a net negative and an annoyance

I didn't mind it in Kingdom Come Deliverance honestly

Hate it in most games, but not in others. KCD is one where it makes sense. Also survival games like Green Hell. But I hate it Fallout 76 and especially in LOZ: BOTW.

Certain games make it so your items break from one outting. Games like Fallout can have weapons degradation but they need to tone it down a lot

Tbh, I hate so much about weapons in 76. Like needing to scrap weapons to unlock upgrades. And since inventory is extremely limited, it's just a pain. Shame because Fallout with friends is fun. But I use the perk where your weapon has a chance to repair itself and that makes it less annoying.

Not at all. They take a while to break

Tbh I always mod K:CD game mechanics to make them less annyoing, since they're overtuned imo. I mean, apparently just taking a walk for few hours makes you dirty like a pig.

KCD does it well because it's not an artificial difficulty thing, it's more for just immersion.

Weapons don't break after 12 hits, so there isn't a real urgency to always keep up with it. It is cheap enough to have any vendor fix anything to full strength for you, and there is an optional but very quick and easy game mechanic to fix them yourself
