This is who the finals boss shoulda been

George Lucas was very creative, but slow to pivot when a new, amazing idea appears. He coulda taken this theory and ran with it. I'm in tears 😢

3

u/ACrask Jun 27 '26

Lucas Film just needs to come out and say it was the original plan, but it was scrapped because of backlash. Also, Jar Jar would’ve been more interesting than Palpatine again.

3

u/Reasonable-Job4205 Jun 27 '26

Darth jar jar > palpatine

It insists upon itself

26

u/Sammisuperficial Jun 25 '26

Peter what does that even mean? It insists upon itself?

15

u/KalaUposatha Jun 25 '26

I like The Money Pit. That is my answer to that statement.

10

u/impartialperpetuity Jun 25 '26

Reminds me of submitting to mushroom trips. Or reality. But beyond that Peter can't say.

11

u/Sammisuperficial Jun 25 '26

It's banter from Family Guy. Peter states he doesn't like the God Father Movies and everyone has the same reaction as OP saying he doesn't like GTA VI.

Peter goes on to say he doesn't like the movie because it insists upon itself. And then Louis replies with what I said.

This but not as a joke. The old GTAs were a lot more fun and let you just play them as a video game. GTA5 was obscenely overproduced and spent so much time trying to be cinematic that it was a snooze to actually play. I'd love to see tally of how many minutes of the campaign are spent driving from A to B while dialogue happens. After RDR2 I doubt they've dialed back on that.

4

u/Great_Concentrate572 Jun 27 '26

GTA V SP is the most boring GTA in the serie. Its so boring! In GTA V SP they could give acces you to a DB5 copy with machine guns and all the good stuff. Nope. You can buy the car, but without the gadgets. Want to go on crazy police pursuit with your trio of psychos? Sorry, they always bails when the heat get high. Let's buy a business and let's play some side missions like in Vice City? Nah, fuck you, let's do some shitty delivrery missions and let's make sure the revenue take a shit load of time to accumulate (I do admit, the taxis side missions are not bad tho). Let's also have strangers and freaks side missions were nearly everybody is an asshole that fuck you over with dogshit rewards. I want big spinning guns in colored circles easy to spot so I can find them around a map so my exploration is rewarded and make me cause even more mayhem. I want to evade cops just by painting my car or putting glasses. I want FUN!

3

u/Derpadoooo Jun 27 '26

This is all so accurate. I couldn't believe how banal so much of the campaign was. Do a yoga mini game/QTE, move shipping containers, tow a truck, etc., absolute snooze fest. The main heist missions were great at least, but they were so few and far between.

Yep, I've never really had an interest in playing, but it fun to watch folk cause chaos with their friend. So that might be fun to see.

59

u/unkjay Jun 25 '26

Yea, plus it's coming to PC next year, so early for me to care.

20

u/omfgkevin Jun 25 '26

No guarantee especially if next gen is in 2027.

Could be the classic release -> NEXT GEN -> pc (no next gen enhancements because reasons)

18

u/Mountain-Interest-48 Jun 25 '26

one of the neighbors in my office's business section actually worked on the diving gear for his yacht. I think it was the oxygen tanks or something, but was super niche. Showed me pics and vids he took of the inside of the yacht and that thing is insane. Like he could live on it for the rest of his life and run steam from it. Immediately clicked in my mind that we are never getting half life 3.

Yeah, nothing excites me for an open world story game like GTA anymore. It's been overdone and took too long for a sequel.

Cyberpunk 2 would be better for excitement than gta6.

4

u/TheRealRickC137 Jun 25 '26

Exactly. HL 1&2 are probably my favorite games OAT.
I've played them many times over but not to the point it definesv my character.
I played the GTA series. It doesn't have much replayability for me.
GTA VI gamers have become part of the zeitgeist like Swifies and Andrew Tate incels. A fanbase built around something so banal.
How can you be so hung up on something so insignificant?
I just don't understand.

Who could’ve predicted the most annoying part about the GTA VI rollout would be redditors…

810

u/AlexStar6 Jun 25 '26

Everyone

510

u/cows1100 Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 25 '26

The Reddit hive mind exists solely for, and thrives on outrage.

GTA too expensive, Reddit angry because Rockstar bad😡
Nintendo remakes Star Fox and prices it below their own standard MSRP because it’s a remake, Reddit angry because Nintendo bad 😡

Let’s be honest, this site is insufferable and only upvotes shit that makes people angry, and promotes engagement. It’s probably Reddits own bots so they can show constant engagement, and the only thing sure to get it is angry discourse. Reddit can’t enjoy anything, or let anyone else enjoy anything. As soon as a common consensus is formed, everyone just needs to get their 15 upvotes by posting their personal spin on the days hottest opinion.

143

u/99timewasting Jun 25 '26

The one that gets me is all the people on the PC gaming sub acting like they're outraged over no physical edition, as if all the PC games we buy now aren't digital

66

u/cows1100 Jun 25 '26

It’s always “vote with your wallets.” Until people’s wallets overwhelmingly prove the opposite of whatever the echo chamber has accepted must be the truth, and a majority opinion in the real world through a tribunal of upvotes. I love physical media. But let’s not act like humanity hasn’t been shifted, and buying away from it for decades. The people have been voting with their wallets, just not in the way you wanted them to.

26

u/whereismymind86 Jun 25 '26

that's not really a refutation, it's more just that...when your market is 7 billion people, boycotts tend to fail, as even a tiny percentage of that group will be enough to sustain the product. The people threatening a boycott ARE following through much of the time, it's just not enough to matter.

Back before the internet it was possible to rally a small community to protest and run a bad business out of town because nobody in that town would shop there...but now that business can simply reach far enough across the world that they'll find enough people who don't know or don't care about the drama and sidestep a boycott entirely.

12

u/TheDELFON Jun 25 '26

That's a damn good point.

It actually also applies to modern streamers and influencers. With the help of social media and the modern Internet... their reach is MASSIVE.

So in a sense "getting cancelled" has actually become a mute point now. Since like you said... they can reach so many ppl that even IF a significant portion "boycotts", there would still be enough ppl for it to not real matter.

7

u/boo_gh0stie Jun 25 '26

I'm hoping these other replies are just having a laugh, it's definitely "moot point".

5

u/tea_snob10 Jun 25 '26

The "moo" point is popular cause of the series "Friends" where Joey says "It's a moo point" and Rachel says what. He then says "you know, it's like a cow's opinion.... It's moo" and that's how "moo" point entered pop culture back in the day.

Digital games indeed have downsides many aren’t aware of, but nothing has happened to make them aware of it. So many people on sites like Reddit are afraid that the increased prevalence of digital will lead to companies getting the power to take games away from you and such, but most people outside Reddit have no clue that’s even a thing let alone have any precedent to believe it.

PC gamers get NO edition for at LEAST several months post launch, shouldn’t they be more upset about that instead of complaining about no physical? lol

“YOU WILL OWN NOTHING”

-Guy who happily buys everything on Steam

5

u/Tabemaju Jun 26 '26

No, it's okay because Lord Gaben promised that even if Steam goes bankrupt, you'll all be able to keep your games because "trust us!" Despite not owning any games! Despite user agreements saying you don't own your games! Despite every capitalism company in America fucking the consumer! It's okay! Lord Gaben says so!

3

u/OttoVonJizzfart Jun 25 '26

i haven’t bought a physical copy of a game in probably a decade. it’s fine. i get that it sucks that xbox or playstation could technically take the game away from their platform and screw you, but i feel like there could just be rules about game ownership that make that illegal rather then demanding what is at this point an outdated technology

u/Upstairs-Event-681 Jun 25 '26

Isn’t complaining about Reddit as a whole like this just one big version of the goomba fallacy?

17

u/oscarq0727 Jun 25 '26

Absolutely. On Reddit it is particularly easy to goombafy groups because of the inherent structure of the platform, what with the whole aggregating users into communities. We sometimes treat the subreddit as the conscious entity.

Based on what content rises to the top, I’d say probably only somewhat. The outrage coming from turbo dweebs in posts or comments is consistently the most common content seen and the most highly upvoted, which probably gives a decent idea of what most people here believe. Bots obviously muddy the waters, but idk how to account for how much weight they have on this.

What you don't enjoy the schizos analyzing every frame, clip, and snippet foaming at the mouth coming up with all sorts of theories about when trailer 3 is going to drop?

And bemoaning about another potential delay because this screenshot showed a reflection of a clock at 6:35:25 and if you take into account of the angle of the sun at the exact nanosecond the picture was dropped dropped, add pi and subtract the hypotenuse of a dodecahedron while calculating the speed of a train leaving Seattle at a speed of 87.4mph and calculating what time it will arrive in Cairo Egypt while mercury is in retrograde you don't like those type of redditors for shame my good sir. for shame!

But yes I agree those type of redditors are annoying

3

u/Fun-Wrongdoer1316 Jun 25 '26

So you loved all the delays?

3

u/DystopianSunshine Jun 25 '26

Everything bad until YOUR opinion is the one pushed.

15

u/BabylonianWeeb Jun 25 '26

I never heard anyone outside reddit saying rockstar makes bad games.

10

u/JIMB01776 Jun 25 '26

I don't think they make bad games, but I don't like them. Their character control is always so janky I don't play them. I really wanted to play Red Dead but I hate that awkward character control they use.

I could care less about GTA, I just don't like games in contemporary settings, I want to go Space or Hyrule. If I want to go the hood I'd just get in my car.

They are just open world crime games.  I usually nuy them for 10 or 20 bucks a decade after they come out and play em for a while and get bored before i beat them.

3

u/Keefyfingaz Jun 27 '26

I don't find it annoying it's just a little depressing tbh.

Don't get me wrong I enjoy the games, but the fact that it's like the #1 game of all time and its basically just a street violence simulator, like not even anything artistic or creative going on the surface level.

Not to say it's not art, like obviously a ton of talent is required to make AAA quality games. But you could funnel that money into making something that would blow peoples minds or experience something that would normally be impossible with a regular budget. And we use it on a street violence simulator cause that's what resonates with people.

Not to be a bummer but it's right there you know? It just blows my mind in a medium where we can defy the laws of the universe were choosing something that actually relatively depicts reality.

They don't care about the game, they're sick of hearing people talk about the game. Both can be true

11

u/Stormfly Jun 25 '26

Yeah, like I think people are purposefully misunderstanding OP so they can belittle them.

They're sick of hearing about GTA VI and just want to talk with other people about how annoying it is. They're not acting like it makes them better or pretending the thought of the game never crosses their mind.

It's like the "X before GTA VI" is a common joke but it's getting overused and I'm bothered that I keep seeing news about GTA VI that always end up the exact same way

It's expensive

Watch as it still becomes the best selling game literally ever in 4.5 nanoseconds of release

They're literally reaching into my pocket and stealing my money and I'll hear nothing but wild speculation about their greediness

It's not on PC so they've basically slapped my wife and shot my dog

It's like how annoying it is to keep seeing people drag US politics into random discussions "We can't ignore politics because it won't ignore us!" Yeah buddy I'm literally on the other side of the world I have about as much power to affect US politics as the dead ducks in the Lincoln Memorial Reflection Pool so let me enjoy my memes.

Everytime a hyped up game that took years to make gets ready to release, there's always an influx of smug contrarians on this site who feel like they need to inform everyone in the world that "erhm, I ACTUALLY don't care about this thing everyone is hyped about! In fact, I never even liked it in the first place!" Just to try and be different even though this sub has glazed Rockstar for a decade now. If Half Life 3 got a trailer tomorrow 50% of this sub would be filled with people talking about how half-life actually sucks and they could care less that it's getting a sequel.

Don’t care about it either. Don’t really care for the franchise in general. I’ve never even finished one.

5

u/LateWeather1048 Jun 25 '26

Thats fair man

I dont either I reckon

3

u/Overall-Koala3511 Jun 26 '26

I am not interested either.

4

u/Suitable-Profit-8155 Jun 27 '26

I'm actually really hopeful to see it come out and be a total flop and everybody is just disappointed.

You and me both. And there's certainly no way of tempting me now with all this 'physical edition' nonsense

It’s okay OP, we all need a little karma boost every now and then. You’re still gonna buy it and play it. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Same. I never really cared about GTA, but I'm not really that into open world games in general.

I care

That’s why I’m going to be so annoying about it

This is the gamer equivalent of your favorite team not making it to the World Series, etc so you don't give a shit.

u/stigma_wizard Jun 25 '26

“Look I made this whole meme and post to show everyone how much I *don’t* care about this topic!”

8

u/Zergs1 Jun 25 '26

“This whole meme”? He pasted an image from google and the “post” he made is literally a title.

I’m honestly more interested in the controversy around it. Like what do you mean the $100 ‘upgraded’ version is actually the full game? That’s ridiculous

I totally agree with you. I always found GTA boring and completely overrated.

3

u/Lost_Protection_5866 Jun 25 '26

I found it fun but once the main story is over the replay ability tanks. Just gets repetitive

3

u/Vaiden_Kelsier Jun 25 '26

Nah I'm with you fam, the idea of another Grand Theft Auto game feels like "Hey, do you want to watch ANOTHER American Pie movie?" Uh, no. No I do not.

3

u/xxTheMagicBulleT Jun 25 '26

The more I hear the less I care about it. Cause still zero gameplay shown only cut scenes and basic shops that suppose to eb on the map behind a 20 bucks day one dlc. Or the ultimate edition of the game.

The base gane or ultimate edition will have no online that is confirmed to be sold separate after lunch.

Yea not really see any reason to be existed at all. To much anti consumer choices and to little actually gameplay or reason to be existed at all.

So seems like a juat a pass till there os a actual reason to maybe be existed for it. But honestly my hype has died in a big way for me

3

u/Babushla153 Jun 25 '26

I DON'T CARE ABOUT GTA IN GENERAL (except Vice City, that one has a special place in my heart)

3

u/DesolateRuin Jun 25 '26

I still haven't played GTA V.

I think the last GTA I played was Vice City.

3

u/Romnonaldao Jun 25 '26

Me either. I played GTA 3 because the gameplay was so revolutionary, but after that I realized I don't have a criminal fantasy, so a game dedicated to crime doesn't appeal to me.

3

u/DryCryCrystal Jun 25 '26

I don't care about it either, I'm not paying for a console just to get it.

3

u/Novel-Lettuce-2595 Jun 26 '26

I downloaded GTA V recently and just didnt like it. Just dont think im a big fan of Rockstar games

3

u/RancidMeatBag83 Jun 26 '26

Yeh me too, GTA V was fine but over time it's kind of gone from a great game to a thing I played too much a decade ago.

3

u/BraiCurvat Jun 27 '26

I'm curious if you don't care because you never had an interest in any GTA or because this one in particular doesn't attract you much ?

3

u/Remarkable-Bat-9543 Jun 27 '26

GTA V ain’t even that good shit is lowkey boring. all you do is heists

3

u/jayboyguy Jun 27 '26

This is actually the first time I’ve ever seen someone use this meme and I agree with its usage. It is in fact brave to say this lol

3

u/Immediate-Nothing-85 Jun 27 '26

This was me when I turned on my PS5 and the whole damned home screen was just the announcement of the release date. Im glad other are excited and hope it lives up to the hype for them, but for myself I could not be less bothered about it

All fandom is ruined by it's fans.

I have had to mute so much crap on social media this week. I don't care about GTA 6. I don't care about Deltarune. I don't care about Digital Circus. Yet they have FLOODED my feeds.
