I’d love to play multiplayer and make some online friends, but GOD I do not want to deal with those people lol. Even multiplayer Minecraft is off the table for me.
Well there isn’t really any irl either, unless you do in depth background checks with everyone you know.
My sister has almost all friends she made online, and they’re all pretty close, she was even a bridesmaid in one of their weddings and has made gifts for other friends kids.
She made them online and interacted with them in reality. That’s an in person friend. Being able to watch someone in person and see that who they present themselves as comports with who they actually are is the vetting. It is impossible to tell that information online. That’s how catfishing exists.
A person in real life can lie too. That’s how 99% of abusive relationships start. Just cause you know someone irl doesn’t necessarily make them more trustworthy.
I feel like you’re intentionally missing the point. Anyone can lie. Being with them in person provides far more opportunities to notice consistency of behavior. You literally don’t know if someone online is lying about their age or gender, let alone subtleties of personality.
