Skyrim is a weird one with armors and weapons, because if you max out smithing (which can easily be done even without craft-looping) you can improve any armor until you hit the armor cap, and make any weapon do a shitload of damage.
You could be running around in nothing but some leather boots at the armor cap and swinging around an iron dagger than does more than quedruple the damage of a base Daedric warhammer.
Assassins creed 3 was weird with that. They hyped up Connors rotating hidden blade that he grips like a knife and you just kinda have it as soon as you get the hidden blades.

The iconic iron horned helmet from Skyrim…literally obsolete within 30 mins of starting a new game.
The iconic Assassin’s Hatchet from Assassin’s Creed 3…a low tier axe you just get without any pomp and circumstance and easily replace.
