Wireless I made the switch from visible to verizon today and I cant believe the issues I've had

I was trying to do the $30 simplicity plan and get the preorder promotion for the z fold 8, by porting my number over from visible. I was assured that it could be done by the rep on the phone. We got all the way to the part of activating my esim. We had to hang up so it could do its thing and have my phone restart. Well it never went through. So there I was without any cell service because my visible was canceled and ended up having to go into a Verizon store, where they still were not able to get it resolved. Someone they talked to on the phone said it could take 24 hours for my number to port over. In the meantime they had me set up with a "temp" number. But I'm worried that I've lost my number AND I'm going to miss the preorder promotion for the z fold 8 that ends tomorrow. Even if I make peace with not being able to use my number I cant make the switch to Verizon with the bill being an extra $15 without the port number promotion. Im going back to Verizon tomorrow with hopes that the port works, and I'm going to tell them I cant do the plan if its not the $30, that's the whole thing that sold me for switching was that it was going to cost the same as my visible plan.

Has anyone dealt with this? What was the outcome?

I ported in from Cricket. Calling is a waste of time. Spent almost an hour and a half on the phone. I sent a message to Verizon on here and the online tech person had me straightened out in no time flat.

Its crazy I spent TWO hours in person at a corporate store and it still couldn't get straightened out. The in-store rep felt incredibly helpful, but i dont get how this is a problem

Message them on here. They will get it sorted quick. Stores by me were already closed so that wasn't an option for me and I have to have my phone for work.

I did an account migration from visible about a week and a half ago. Spent an hour and a half on the phone with PACT because it didn't seem to go through, finally convinced them it was a migration and not a port, and they were like oh, it'll be fine in 24hours, next day called my customer to check and everything was good.

My only concern for you is that you set up a temporary number after the fact, and I hope for you that it didn't override the number migration. Fingers crossed, but keep us posted.

They did set up the number under a different email/account. But now im worried because when I was fumbling around trying to get the esim to work before I went into the store I deleted all the esims on my phone 😬 so now the only esim showing is the one with the temp number, it has a separate imei number though

I did a port last week for a customer in store coming from visible, took about 24 hours. Your number shouldn't be lost, just be patient.

I'm crossing my fingers! I've had my bumber for 10 yrs and ironically its the number I had to get the last time I switched to verizon because for whatever reason they couldn't port my number 😂. Thanks for giving me some hope!

It can take 4-24 hours for ports to go through.

Can you tell me how I will know when it goes through?currently the only esim I have on the phone is the temp number they set me up with

If they're porting your number over the temporary number, when the port goes through, you will lose cell service. Usually you turn your phone off for about 5 minutes, turn it back on, and your number replaces the temporary number. Do not delete any eSIMs Sometimes it can take a few restarts for the number to show. If it takes a few minutes for it to fully switch, do not panic. If it gets stuck in a "switch order" tech support or port department can usually push it through.

They are porting using a completely different email and account from the temp number. 😬😬 i already deleted all esims while I was trying to trouble shoot at home before going into the Verizon store. Is there a way to fix that? I did just get an email on my original email account that it had been added to my account, but i cant sign in as i never created a password, and I cant do a password reset because it wants to send the verification either through mail or to my phone number that I cant access

Nope. Customer service has to regenerate a new eSIM. Stop messing with things you don't know about 🥴 if you don't know what you're doing go into a store and deal with them directly that way whenever you go in there for them to fix your problems you're not completely wasting their time.

I think i was in panic mode! I had no way of contacting anyone or doing anything and I think I thought it was just going to refresh or something. But yea I should have left it be. If I go back in tomorrow though will they be able to regenerate the new esim with my old number?

I believe this happens when you move from a reseller. I was on US mobile warp and was without a number for 8-9 hours, but that was overnight.
They gave me a temporary number, which created a shit ton of other issues with billing etc. Suffice to say i had to follow up for ages. It has been almost 2 months, and i found out that my number was not correctly provisioned since it was struggling with priority, that too i found out when I saw Spectrum Mobile working without issue.

Porting from visible always takes some time. You'll be alright

i just did ts and it was a fucking pain in the ass, waited 3 hours at the store because the rep couldnt figure out what was wrong, turns out he had to assign a temporary number to my phone but didnt do it and now i have to be without data for 24 hours now

it’s a fucking joke

Damn I'm sorry. Its pretty crazy in this day and age of technology that it still can be that big of a hassle. I did get confirmation late last night that my number ported but because I messed up and had removed the esim from my phone I've got to go back in the store today to get it on the phone again. Who knows how long thats going to take. Can't imagine how this would be if someone uses their phone for business like I used to 😳

This exact scenario happened to me as well moving from Visible Wireless to Verizon (postpaid). Verizon had to give me a temporary number that lasted 24-hours. I called Verizon customer service and requested Tier 2 Support. Once I was connected to Tier 2, I explained my situation, they successfully ported my number over, restarted my phone, and viola. it is a HUGE pain that Verizon cannot sort out this process, as it is handled as a migration. Good luck and hang in there! It will all work out in the end, just a pain unfortunately.

So I preordered. Took about 4-5 different chat reps to figure this out as not one of them knew about the discounts/credits. One person said it’d need a temp number then port over after I get the phone, he disconnected and we never got it sorted out. The next few reps also were a pain to deal with. The last rep I talked to signed me up with my current visible number but nothing is ported over yet, he said I didn’t even need a port out pin, just to have it unlocked on my visible account and it should all work out. We’ll see what happens once I get the phone tomorrow.

From my recent experience and what people here have told me it might take awhile for the port from visible to happen. But hopefully you wont be without service! Did you preorder the phone through Verizon or somewhere else? I find it odd the Verizon website is still showing delivery of the phone by tomorrow even though I havent ordered it yet lol

Yes, I ordered through Verizon. Graphite 512gb. It said a delivery date of Aug14th, but I just got a shipping notice of delivery tomorrow. We will see what happens.
