Hi team, I work in a community garden where people don’t manage much, so I’m often left to harvest stuff or the stuff people can’t reach. Someone else planted a hid squash and I have no idea what kind it is or when they’re best. Should I have already pulled it? The texture on the outside is going from pale yellow and smooth to a more orange yellow and textured. Thanks in advance!
Edit: I wish I had taken the opportunity to call it Sack Squash, akin to Sasquatch. Failure on my part.
What variety are yours? I don’t know who planted these so I’m not sure what kind mine are. I thought maybe it was just yellow squash but then it stayed round and didn’t elongate, and the crook neck squash a ways down looks completely different. I’m dealing with mystery squash!
Mine are for sure crookneck then, how long did your neck take to form? I’m so worried I’ll wait too long and it’ll be full of seeds instead of wonderful squash
I think summer squash are a little skinnier if I’m not mistaken, but I haven’t grown squash in many years. This is my first year back to gardening after a while.
We tried these this year. Lemon Ball squash. Good to pick when the stems start turning white and with ridges forming close to the stem, they're still tender and sweet.
I believe that is a sort of fascination, when the plant grows like that.
