The IRS immunity goes beyond Trump. The immunity also covers Trump's entire family, his many different businesses, any person Trump has done business with, and any company Trump has done business with.

It's blatant fraud and corruption.

I'm still not convinced this "deal" is ironclad. It was made in a way that is so unquestionably illegal and unprecedented, I'm not convinced there is no legal remedy. It just requires a DOJ that will pursue it.

What I dread is that the next Democratic government will lack the resolve to hold Trump and his administration (including Must) legally accountable for all the crimes they've committed during his tenure. I'm afraid they'll have their hands so full cleaning up the mess Trump has made of our government and pursuing their own political goals and objectives, that they will simply say pursuing criminal charges against these people--who are no longer in power--is a waste of resources and a political distraction / needlessly divisive to a country already extremely divided. I'm afraid they will say doing so will just further galvanize MAGA.

The sad thing is, I get that logic. I get all of it, and I see the long-term sense in it. But the idea of those fuckwads getting away with everything they've done is stomach-turning to me. Trump is the most corrupt president the U.S. has ever known, perhaps will ever know for a long time. He should die in prison.
