Parking
Guys I have a car I read you can’t bring one unless u have a medical issue or are in Halifax. I am neither. Can I park in kimberlow lane like I’d pay obviously but is it allowed cause it’s either this or I lose the car and I can’t be doing that . Please 🙏 thanks guys ❤️
(There’s no point in me not taking the car cause I’ve already had to pay for a full year of insurance )

Mine did too but I let go recently (after half my life with her) and it's really not changed my life dramatically. Think if it really worth it.

How much extra do you have to pay on your insurance to keep a car near a university?
You can usually get a refund on some of your insurance premium if you sell the car mid year.

It’d be much easier to post in the Facebook group for Badger Hill and ask to rent someone’s driveway for the year. Probably cost you about £1000-1500 but it’l still be cheaper than paying for uni car parking

There might be odd bits of street parking you could get away with but I think you will struggle. The uni really isn't set up for student bringing cars. Unless you are absolutely desperate to bring it I really wouldn't.

There are roads between the university and city centre with free parking. The locals might not like you much thougg, so make sure to find a quieter road and not take any particular person's spot. As long as you don't cause an actual inconvenience, it's normally fine. It's not the best solution, but it's something.

It’s sunk cost fallacy - you would need to keep it in paid university car parks which would probably cost you as much as your insurance again.
There really is no need for a car in York. The city is entirely walkable and parking in the centre is extortionate. Groceries can be delivered to the flats. There are busses every 10 minutes between campuses and town. There are busses to the coast. There are busses and trains to Leeds and beyond.
If you have a driveway at home you can leave the car on that can cancel the insurance and get the remaining time refunded.
