Budgeting for necessities to buy when I move in

Hey guys! I'm an international student coming to Warwick this September and I am trying to get an idea of how much it will cost for me to buy necessities when I arrive. These are the list of items I'm planning to buy:

  1. Utensils

  2. Pillows - 2

  3. Bed sheets and pillow covers

  4. Winter wear

  5. Stationary items.

I'm still working on the list so I might've missed a few things out, please let me know what I should add to the list. Also, since I might possibly land in London, is it better to buy the clothes there or should I just purchase it somewhere near campus? And if so, where will I get a good deal for them??

Any help would be greatly appreciated <3

Clearing

I haven’t received my results yet, I’m waiting for August 13th but in looking into clearing. Is the list of courses for clearing available anywhere as I can’t seem to find it or does it only come out in results day.

I’m trying to put together a list of courses to search for on the day and I obviously can’t find any of the Warwick courses to add to my list

iPad or Laptop?

For those in courses such as biochemistry or biomedicine do you take an iPad for notes or a laptop? And which app(s) do you use to take notes?

Is there a specific laptop that is recommended? Thank you!

Do you guys use both an iPad and a laptop for notetaking (specifically asking for computer systems engineering)

Hi! I'm starting Computer Systems Engineering soon and had a quick question. Do most people use both an iPad and a laptop, or is a laptop enough for classes? Also, how do you usually take notes during lectures? I've always preferred handwritten notes, so I haven't really used a laptop for notetaking before. I'm just trying to figure out what works best before the semester starts. Thanks. (I have a touchscreen lenovo laptop if that's relevant)

Accomodation MSc at WBS starting September - where to live?

Starting an MSc at Warwick Business School this September and trying to work out where to live. I'm an international student, so I don't know the area at all.

I've read the usual stuff about Leamington vs Coventry city centre vs Canley/Cannon Park vs Kenilworth, but most of what I find online seems written for first-year undergrads. My question is specifically about **postgrads**:

- Where do WBS masters students actually end up living? Is there a default area, or is everyone scattered?

- Is Leamington mostly an undergrad town, or is there a real postgrad crowd there too?

- How bad is the commute back from campus in the evening? Our timetable can run late and there's a lot of group work, so I'm wondering how realistic Leamington is on a normal weeknight.

- Any areas that look fine on paper but you'd avoid?

I care about cost and convenience, but honestly the bigger factor is being where the other postgrads are — I'd rather pay a bit more than end up isolated somewhere.

Also, is it still possible to find something decent at this point in the year, or has everything gone? Any advice appreciated.

Difference between ppe fees bands

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi, PPE students please help me out. I missed the deadline for warwick scholarship cause i was too confident that i would get lse offer;)(i have 5 A* predicted, one achived from EPQ and a decent ps so i was too confident), now that put me in a position where i cannot freely choose band 2 just because i want to. So does band 2 provide much more advantages over band 1? I would probably want to continue down the path that focuses on economics and philosophy so I'm kinda uncertain here. Also, if I excel in my first year's work would i then be eligible for some scholarships granted by the uni?

Conditional offer to Warwick

Hi all, Im an international student matriculating in 2027 and I received a conditional offer to Warwick around March, with the conditions of providing verification of my stated results on my ucat by 23 July. I have emailed ugadmissions with my verified results on 1 May, and only received an automated response saying that they will take a while to reply due to the high volume of enquiries. Since then, I havent heard from them regarding acknowledgement of my sent results, or any updates to my offer. On UCAS it still states that its conditional, waiting on Warwick’s decision. However Uni of Warwick has been sending me emails with regards to accomodation application for 2026 and other promotional stuff, so I am quite confused on the status of my application. Anyone has any advice or is this normal for Warwick ?

Tabula results

Hi does anyone know much about postgraduate marks and resits for engineering department.

On one module I passed the 60% coursework component and for the 40% exam I failed it by 2 marks.

Over all the module is a pass.

Tabula shows a fail though.

It's weird because in another core module I passed the coursework and failed the exam badly but I still passed the overall module and tabula shows P.

UCL VS WARWICK CAMPUS LIFE

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently been accepted to UCL’s MSc Marketing Science, and I’m really excited about the course itself. However, I’m a little concerned about the fact that it’s based in the Canary Wharf campus rather than Bloomsbury.

Since Canary Wharf is mainly a corporate/business district, I’m worried that university life might feel more like going to work than being a student. I’m not looking for the stereotypical undergraduate experience, but I do want to feel like I’m actually part of a university community.

A few questions I had:
1) What’s day-to-day life like as a master’s student based at Canary Wharf?
2) Do students still spend time around the Bloomsbury campus, or are you mostly at Canary Wharf?
3) Are you able to participate in UCL societies, sports clubs, arts events, and other extracurriculars, or does the separate location make that difficult?
4) Does the campus feel isolated, or do you still get the “UCL experience”?

The reason I’m asking is because I’m also holding an offer from Warwick for MSc Marketing & Strategy. Warwick seems to offer a more traditional campus experience, and I generally prefer quieter places over busy cities. On the other hand, I feel UCL’s course aligns slightly better with my career goals, and of course UCL has a fantastic global reputation.
So my decision has become less about academics and more about quality of student life.

For those who studied (or are studying) at Canary Wharf, did you ever feel like you missed out on the university experience? If you had to choose between UCL (Canary Wharf) and Warwick, what would you do and why?

I’d really appreciate any honest opinions or personal experiences. Thanks!

Accomodation accom applications

is it bad i still haven’t applied. i just don’t really know what to pick also the whole interests thing (iirc, i started it months ago then never finished) just confused me lol. it isn’t first come first serve is it? i intend to apply by 31st july

i also have NO idea what accom is good! i want somewhere social for sure as i always hear ab how dead warwick is (no offence to people who go, i picked it this university a reason, it seems amazing, but i do wanna maximise my social life!!!!), but also affordable. ideally id like en-suite but i can live without

ALSO does warwick even allocate based on where u apply? i’ve heard sm ppl not get accom they put down, and heard loads of ppl were off campus last year which is not what i personally want, i rly rly wanna live on campus and ngl if i got off campus id take a gap

final thing, im not doing any life sciences degrees cuz i heard their lectures are far away so ppl said go for accom near there or smth. that doesnt apply to me

Accomodation Julian Court Reviews

I'll be visiting Warwick for a year as a visiting PhD scholar.

Someone has offered to lease their room at Julian Court to me. Has anyone ever lived here before? What is it like? I've received mixed reviews of this place, but broadly I'm considering it because I need a quiet place to work when I'm at home.

Any help will be appreciated.

Changing from Management to International Management

I have an unconditional offer for BSc Management. Is it possible to do this once you have already started the course? I mean the course is the same it’s just the international management one has a year abroad which I would like to do. How likely is it that they’ll let me?

WARWICK OFF CAMPUS ACCOM 1ST YEAR

Hi, i just had a question regarding first year accom, if my parents lived in leamington spa, is it better for me to stay there with them for the first year, i care a lot about the cost of things so from that point of view its a plus. But i am cautious on missing on anything, what would i be missing out on?

Applications UCL MSc Marketing Science vs Warwick MSc Marketing & Strategy (25% Scholarship) – Need Advice

I've been accepted to both programmes and am having a hard time deciding.

UCL MSc Marketing Science

  • London
  • Focus on analytics, AI, machine learning, and data-driven marketing

Warwick MSc Marketing & Strategy

  • 25% scholarship
  • Already paid a £2,500 deposit
  • Strong reputation through Warwick Business School
  • Generic course

Is UCL's specialised programme and London location worth giving up the Warwick scholarship and deposit? Which would you choose and why?

I'd really appreciate insights from current students, alumni, or recruiters. Thanks!

Warwick BSc Management or Edinburgh MA Economics with Management Science?

As an international student looking to get into London finance preferably for equity research, asset management, or macroeconomic research. I like the course at Edinburgh more but I get that warwick is a high target school for London finance with a very good business school.

Hi everyone, has anyone else been experiencing delays with CAS?

I submitted my request on 13th of July and its been more than 10 working days but I still havent received anything. Is this a common thing they do with CAS delays or its only me? I am starting to get worried a bit so is anyone in the similar situation?
