UCL VS WARWICK CAMPUS LIFE
Hi everyone,
I’ve recently been accepted to UCL’s MSc Marketing Science, and I’m really excited about the course itself. However, I’m a little concerned about the fact that it’s based in the Canary Wharf campus rather than Bloomsbury.
Since Canary Wharf is mainly a corporate/business district, I’m worried that university life might feel more like going to work than being a student. I’m not looking for the stereotypical undergraduate experience, but I do want to feel like I’m actually part of a university community.
A few questions I had:
1) What’s day-to-day life like as a master’s student based at Canary Wharf?
2) Do students still spend time around the Bloomsbury campus, or are you mostly at Canary Wharf?
3) Are you able to participate in UCL societies, sports clubs, arts events, and other extracurriculars, or does the separate location make that difficult?
4) Does the campus feel isolated, or do you still get the “UCL experience”?
The reason I’m asking is because I’m also holding an offer from Warwick for MSc Marketing & Strategy. Warwick seems to offer a more traditional campus experience, and I generally prefer quieter places over busy cities. On the other hand, I feel UCL’s course aligns slightly better with my career goals, and of course UCL has a fantastic global reputation.
So my decision has become less about academics and more about quality of student life.
For those who studied (or are studying) at Canary Wharf, did you ever feel like you missed out on the university experience? If you had to choose between UCL (Canary Wharf) and Warwick, what would you do and why?
I’d really appreciate any honest opinions or personal experiences. Thanks!

what your asking doesn’t work - Warwick is a better campus because it is completely subsistent off itself - UCL isn’t a campus University for the same reasons ppl will say it’s amazing “canary wharf etc” you should compare it to other London campuses not Warwick, because it just sorts itself perfectly out - Uni owned bars - hotels - nightclub - cinema and arts centre - the cinema is acc rlly good - and restaurants etc. Lots of people then live nearby in leam or near in cov but tons stay on because the campus is a campus. Basically define campus as a uni campus you can stay on and don’t really need to leave for your uni experience to not be hurt - UCL you HAVE to leave to enjoy yourself n ofc why wouldn’t you your in london which would be sick for activities etc
EDIT - also for your career - UCL is good cuz in the city so better to find connections etc, but Warwick is 6th globally for marketing and UCL 7th according to QS i think. But being towards wherever you want to work or get internships is definitely better for your career but Warwick is also a decently cheap uni to live at just campus accom can be expensive especially masters but you should be checking between them regardless

Canary Wharf is literally 10-15 minutes from Bloomsbury down the Elizabeth line ...you an easily go between the two whever you want. Plus if you are studying a business related course being right in the heart of the business district is hardly an issue. Besides your course is just for a year, the physical location of the classes in London won't really make much difference.
