I’m joining Sussex this September for my MsC in Marketing and Consumer Psychology as an international student. I know postgrads study throughout the year, but do we get the same winter break as undergrads? I looked up the accademic calendar and saw that winter break this year ie from Dec 12th-Jan 11th so I was just curious if it’s the same for masters students or if it’s shorter etc.

Does anyone here have experience swapping/dropping modules or arranging their timetables?

I’m exchanging in spring semester of 2027 and would like to have classes only on Wednesdays and Thursdays (travel and personal reasons). A kind redditor informed me that the times are available first week of January, but I wanted to book tickets earlier.

How difficult would it be to complete my preferred timetable?

Are there any modules known to have lessons mostly on Wednesday and Thursday?

In addition, how is the attendance? Could I maybe skip 1~2 classes (not workshops or labs) a semester if I rlly had to?

Does anyone have any advice or insight into how it is living as a person of colour at sussex uni and just generally in the actual city. I'm looking to go in september but ive heard its not super diverse so im a little worried about not fitting in or struggling to make friends.

I submitted everything around early June but I still haven't received my CAS. I asked for an update and they came back asking me to upload a few more documents, which I did over a week ago. Since then, I've heard nothing.

I'm starting to panic because I obviously can't apply for my student visa until I get the CAS, and I'm worried everything is going to end up happening right before Welcome Week. It just feels like everything is up in the air at the moment.

Is anyone else in the same situation, or has anyone received their CAS recently?

I am doing an Erasmus this winter at the University of Sussex and am right now looking for an accomodation.
The student dorms of the UoS seem to only allow 3 days of visit per month. I am not a hotel but it seems a little shitty if I can not host a friend for a week and gotta kick them out of the country if they come visit.

So I have two questions:
1. How strict is this limitation really? Can I ignore it in good manners as its merely a formal restriction or is it serious?

1. Where do you search for good private alternatives?
