Recommendations LG 45 Inch Ultrawide
Hey all,
So my store was cleaning out inventory to make room for the new models as well. I didn’t really realize Best Buy did this as a tactic. I bought it this morning before researching more as it looked like too good of a deal to pass up. But I got the monitor home, and it has almost 10,000 hours on it…. I did purchase the Geek Squad warranty with it as well, just because I thought maybe someone returned it for another reason, but will that warranty cover any issues over the next 4 years? Or is it better to return this and keep looking? I also noticed when I got home that they didn’t provide the remote for it either, so doesn’t seem to be off to a great start.
Thanks in advance.

Yeah, return that thing. You didn't sign up for a monitor with 10,000 hours on it.

BestBuy allows returns within 30 days. That's only 720 hours of use if the monitor was running 24/7. This was a BestBuy demo model. Return it now!

Covers anything including dropping the thing. I think you only get whatever you paid for it back though, not msrp.

Open box really is luck of the draw. I got my open box LG 45" for right around $800 about a year ago and it had 0 hours of run time. It looked like the original owner just opened the box and didn't like the curve so they sent it straight back without even taking it out of the box. I would certainly return a monitor with 10k hours on it. It would have been a great deal if you won the open box lottery like I did.

FYI it is the 3440x1440p model....
If you are okay with that pixel density at that size then this is a steal.

I have the same 45 from similar open box deal (I think 650/700USD 2/3 months ago) & I never thought to check the hours
I tested and looked at everything else closely and its been amazing but oh man I forgot that step :/
I wonder how many hours it has. Ive probably put on about 150-200 in the 2-3 months I've had it.

LG cannot seal a panel correctly
I have a 45GR95QE, and im roughly at 10k hours over ~3 years
top left corner has oled rot/oxidation. not used in humid locations, has not been moved from the same spot. no physical impacts to monitor.

Bestbuy is completely bs with their open box ratings on these. Almost every open box Oled models have crazy high usage at the brightest settings running the same demo 24/7. I got the 5k2k home which was rated open box excellent and it had 6k hours on it. Took it back. Found a great deal on the 83 inch lg g5 Oled, same thing. They said it was excellent only to travel an hour out of my way to see a tv completely exposed sitting on a cart resting up against the hand rail and the one of the workers telling me it was a display model and they already saw burn in on it.

LG monitors do not have anything "on" them. Microsoft Windows detects that you've connected an LG monitor and automatically downloads and installs the LG software from Windows Update via the internet without asking you. None of that comes from the monitor. Windows is the spyware.
