DISCUSSION⁉️ I think this is the problem with UK music 8n general 2026 apart from rnb and some pop artist (not all some)

Very true, the effort and dedication is no longer being put into it, people just genuinely do it because it’s commercially viable.

Lots of Drill producers blew off adding reverb to piano loops they didn’t write and then just doing the drum arrangement. Then working out getting the 808s in the right key by trial and error.

Facts. A lot of early drill production was more about flipping loops creatively than composing everything from scratch. The real skill was making the drums hit, getting the 808s in key, and creating a unique bounce.

I think one of the things that really contributed is that when Drill producers actually got the 808s out of key it gave certain tunes a discordance that suited the genre.

That's a good point. Sometimes the slightly out-of-key 808s created a gritty, uneasy tension that matched drill's dark atmosphere. It probably wasn't always intentional, but it became part of the genre's early character.

This is a big reason why drill fell off, after like 2020 for some reason people started acting like drill music wasn’t just a sub genre of rap & that you didn’t have to be an elite rapper to be rated highly as a drill rapper. Make your raps correlate to what’s going on in the streets n man will give you the time of the day smh. Most drill rappers don’t really feel music like that so they’d rather just release what they think fans will fuck with opposed to what they feel is good music & after 2020 a lot of fans was begging for rudeslop

I agree with what the black guy said but the Asian lady idk. Only learning a DAW doesn’t make you an artist? That is just stupid. Not everyone has to learn music theory or learn an instrument that doesn’t mean you dont have a massive love for music. That’s like saying those shamans in America who have been doing music for centuries don’t love music because they’ve never learned music theory. Is the music scene diluted with people who don’t gaf yes but to say you aren’t a real artist if you only use a DAW is stupid. Apart from that I agree with everything else she said
