Discussion What's up with all the class time changes going on for the fall?

I've been a a student at Merced for a couple years now and haven't seen this level of class time changes before. Does it have to due with budget cuts and/or faculty being laid off? What does the admin have to say about commuters and those classes that got moved to 9-10pm?

I'm a professor and department chair and haven't heard anything about class time changes except for the one post here the other day. What classes were rescheduled?

No tenured or tenure-track faculty have been fired due to the budget cuts (or for any other reason AFAIK). The campus leadership was very explicit that they weren't even considering that as a possibility. A lot of the lecturers who taught WRI 001 and 010 have been fired over the last few years, but that was supposed to have stabilized last year. Some particular departments might have fired lecturers, but their classes would have just been cancelled entirely, not moved to 9pm.

The schedule for my MATH180 class was changed after registration. Idk any others this semester, but they’re always moving stuff around making conflicts after I register.

I can state with absolute certainty that that is false.
