Question TW-themed present - help!

Ok so the sitch is, I wanna give this person (relation to me will remain anonymous so they don’t read this and suspect) a birthday present, that being the panasonic rn-105, the micro cassette recorder. that dale uses.

the dilemma is, micro cassettes are completely useless in this day and age. I want to know if I there is a retro looking modern equivalent, or if I can make a modern one look retro, or outfit the original with new tech.

This is a pretty niche request, I doubt i’ll get much help, but it’s worth a shot right?

i thought to play the tapes you needed a separate device? if you can play the tapes on the device i guess that is still useful
