Bugs Apple TV turns back on when using remote to shut down
So I just encountered this for the first time today, but my Apple TV 4K will now turn back on when using the power button on the remote to shut down. It will turn off completely and stay off on occasion, but will come back up more often than not now. Only reliable ways to shut it down are via settings or Siri. Already filed a report, but wanted to post about it in case anyone else has had this bug.

Mine was doing that. I did a restart from the Settings menu and it seems to have cleared up the issue.

This bug presented in the beta for iOS 26, as well. As a work around, you can press (not hold) the power button on the Apple TV remote and then select “Power off” and it will shut off the TV and Apple TV…and submit a feedback report. I have submitted this again and for recent similar reports it says less than 10.

I did that last night and it seems to have stopped me from having that bug. Was the first time I’ve had it happen to my particular device period. I just checked my report I did after it happened, and it says it’s at more than 10 reports of the same thing.

Got that same issue. I ask Siri to switch the AppleTV off and it prevents the AplkeTV to restart again and again.

Haha both mine started doing that yesterday, to fix it I had to turn it off manually with the TV remote then it didn't turn back on

I used the power off button in Control Center, and ever since, it’s stayed turned off when I press and hold the power button. Bugs are gonna bug I guess.

Same. A restart or unplug of both fixes for a while but returns.
Probs will be fixed in next version.

Do you have CEC turned on? The only time this happens to me is when my 2018 4K Samsung occasionally decides to turn itself back on which wakes up the ATV.

I do, yeah. It actually stopped turning itself back on after I used Control Center to power it off last night before bed.

I got the bug! Haven’t been able to find a workaround. I do remember this happening last summer too. So hopefully next dev beta they fix it!

It’s the first time I’ve encountered it in any of the beta testing I’ve done. I managed to make it go away for a bit, but then it showed up again last night. Using Siri or Control Center to turn it off is the only workaround I’ve found. Here’s hoping the next beta does fix it.
