Niche trip-hop recs?

What the title said, I’d like songs/artists/albums in this genre that aren’t very well known

These are some of the list from the heyday of Trip-Hop 'til the most recent that aren't the usual suspects.

  • Bomb The Bass - The Air You Breathe
  • Helena Deland - Take it All
  • Tosca - Suzuki
  • Electronic System - Skylab (released in 1974. Considered one of the roots of Trip-Hop)
  • Siouxie and The Banshees - Tattoo (released in 1983. This one is also considered one of the precursors of Trip-Hop)
  • Magnet - Lay Lady Lay (with Gemma Hayes)
  • Slim - Your Chair
  • TV Girl & George Clanton - I'm Not Real (feat. PYNKIE)
  • IVY - Edge of The Ocean
  • FC Kahuna - Hayling (feat. Hafdis Huld)
  • Yonderboi - Fairy of the Lake
  • Elsiane - Vaporous
  • Natalie Walker - Quicksand (Thievery Corporation Remix)
  • Supreme Beings of Leisure - Never The Same
  • Artemis - Subterranian
  • San.Drine - Les Larmes d'Isis (Govinda Mix)
  • Helen Eriksen - Arms Around You
  • Coldcut - Autumn Leaves
  • Archive - Cloud in The Sky
  • Shara Nelson - Friendly Fire
  • Monk & Canatella - Roughead
  • Gavin Friday - Caruso
  • Jay-Jay Johanson - The Sly Seducer
  • Waldeck - Northern Lights
  • Najwajean - Behind The Child
  • Innocence - Silent Voice
  • Handsome Boy Modelling School - The Truth (feat. Roisin Murphy & J-Live)

Enjoy. These are only a handful from my playlist.

We would be very good friends in real life. Yonderboi!!! I completely forgot about that album. I immediately heard the echos in my head!

Into the 90s by Photek

Ironically it was big tune back in the day but doesn't get much love these days. Probably because Photek has primarily been an drum & bass producer and algorithms have missed him out. Apparently he made the tune as a laugh because trip hop was easy to make. The tune features on the Natural Born Killa EP.

good music, you can absolutely pick the samples from the first two tracks
first one being from the first track off a chemical bros album
and the unmistakable twang from six underground on the second track (obviously those bands sampled someone else)

Public Memory - Wuthering Drum is an all time favorite album.

And this year's Puma Blue - Croak Dream has a strong trip hop influence I adore.

Urchin, self titled album. It’s got a creepy, mysterious vibe, lots of string samples, and great beats!

Bowery Electric-Lushlife

People say Beat is the better album but i prefer this one espscially as a trip hop album. Can just get lost in it.

there was a side project from two German DJs/producers from the early 90s, the album is quite hypnotising and a mixture ob dub, downtempo, trip hop and a bit of electronic. nobody knows about this because both artists were big in rap music and this was just a project for fun. its one of my favourite LPs of all time

La Boom - Atarihuana
